Awesome pics, Tom, but I've got a question. Looking at those $12 payout slips, I was wondering how much a pitpass cost in 1970?

What's really sad is that I know of some micro sprint tracks that still only pay about $12 to the back of the field today.

I'm all for running go-karts there. I know the sound of cars with the houses around wouldnt fly with the neighborhood but mufflers on karts may bring the track back to life.

To Keg

My name is Tracy Stuart. Ive been reading in to alot of what your doing with lake hill speedway. I found it very interesting and was thinking about what i could do to get involved. Ive lived in valley park all of my life and went to many races there at lake hill speedway and remember much of the history behind it. I would love to see some type of racing taking place there once again. So i got to talking to my brother that owns Robs Tree Service and he also races a sportsman at I55 raceway in Pevely. I told him about what you have been doing and that you may need some help with some trees and he said that he would be willing to help you if you still need the extra help. He has been in the Tree business for 21years now so he has lots of experience in this area. He said for you to give him a call at 636-225-8824 and leave him a message and he will get back to you A.S.A.P.
Thanks,
Tracey

...

I talked to "Crazy" Joe Adkins today. He used to race the number 76 and the number 88 at Lake Hill. He is planning on attending the get-together.

It was pretty neat to sit and talk to him for an hour or so and can't wait to hear some more "bench racing" stories.

I also can't wait until I see Jerry "Bumps" Sifford again. According to Crazy Joe, Sifford was the "Origianal Bump Drafter."
(an inside joke, not implying any negativity on Jerry nor his accomplishments)

I hope that there are a ton of others like Crazy Joe who have heard and are planning on attending, but just haven't posted anything on here.

Thanks KEG for allowing this to happen, not only for the old-timers to say goodbye... but for us "younger" generation that didn't get the chance to be there in the "glory days."

As you may know, when I obtained the Lakehill Speedway property I really had no idea of its history. And since I didn't follow racing in my youth  this whole situation is new to me. But it has also brought a lot of fun. It's like entering a totally new world filled with amazing stories and memories. I can't wait to meet everyone at the reunion.

So ... I'm just curious. If the Lakehill Speedway were put back to use, what types of races would work at this track (being asphalt, 3/8mile, and banked turns)?

I know it is just a dream, but I still enjoy dreaming every once in a while. So if you had the opportunity to resurrect racing at Lakehill, what type of racing in today's world would fit this track?

KEG

KEG,
Just got home from Lake Hill Speedway. Hard to get there due the city repaving Forest Ave. but it will be done by this weekend they say. Anyway walked around and took some pictures. (I hope some one is recording the progress of the rebulding, If not Ill keep taking photos.)
After entering I had this weard feeling come over me like walking though old St. Charles way after they closed but this time it was full of excitement knowing that for at least one day the old place would be full of fans and cars. Not shure how the people around the place will react to thousands of people showing up but I hope they like it. Those are the ones that will make the call if the track stays or go's So hopefully everyone possable will help make it as nice as it can be. Call me when the next work day is and I will be there. Open for work all day Sundays & Mondays.
Best of luck
Kent:D

If the decision is made

If the decision is made for which cars to race in November, if there is a race, I have a modified I would like to try to run. I am trying to locate some asphault tires and kinda have them on hand just in case a decision is made. Id love to try and make a few laps around the track just to see what it would be like to run on asphault. That and my buddies dad would love to make a trip down memory lane, might even let him take the car out and putt around in it.

track champions

Does anyone have a listing of the past "Track Champions" of Lake Hill Speedway and the years in which they were Champion there? We would like to have it for the event.

Earl Valdejo, #14 1949
Walt Treppler, #23 1951 1952
Ray Eby, #91 1958 1962 1963 (NEED TO CHECK WITH RAY - ONE MIGHT BE FROM BELLEVILLE)
KENNY SHRUM 1953

Im not up to date on the progress of the track but I stoped by Monday and it looks like there is a lot to get done to get it ready to race in time if it can be raced on. Also geting a permit to race might be hard. Again I dont know all the facts just guessing by the looks of things it might take some time. KEG when is the next work weekend? I can come out Sunday to help. Like to meet you some time.

Roland Poehl...If you're out there give me a call. I need to talk about the availability of some of your old pics for the racing program. 314-614-3038. David Mueller

Lake Hill Speedway Reunion

This is Mark Hindrichs, and I've located a few old photos from Lake Hill along with an old program. I am going to make every possible effort to attend this reunion, but I've had some really crappy health issues the last couple of months, and just woke up from a nice little 7 days coma. But *** soon as I get out of the hospital, I'll get to work trying to remember what I did with everthing and get it posted.

Also. KEG, real estate development is one of my businesses. What is your long term goals for the property when you bought it? Are you a developer, or it this a one shot deal?

Last week St. Louis Motorsports Review video taped the track as it is now.
You can find the video at
