(Phoenix, AZ)- Southwest Dirt Racing Association series officials announced Friday at the SWDRA season finale that thanks to the addition of a title sponsor the 2010 points championship will be the richest yet.
Phoenix, Arizona based Total Seal Piston Rings will be the 2010 SWDRA title sponsor and the points champion will receive a check for $12,000. Another addition to the series points fund is a contingency award for a brand new GRT chassis with interior sheet metal for a randomly drawn driver finishing in points position 5-15. Drivers must participate in 80% of the races to be eligible for any contingency/points fund awards in 2010. The series hopes to announce a full point's fund breakdown very soon and is close to securing contingency prizes for the drives finishing 2-4 in points.
"We are very excited that Total Seal sees the potential for a strong super late model series in the West," says SWDRA co-director Kyle Porter who also noted "this is great news for Arizona dirt racing which has had its fair share of setbacks in the last year with the closure of Manzanita Speedway and Central Arizona Raceway."
The series, now known as the SWDRA by Total Seal, has secured a 14-race schedule with 8 races at USA Raceway in Tucson, AZ and 6 at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, AZ. The series is targeting a 17 race schedule with a maximum of 20 races. Potential additions include dates at Prescott Valley Raceway and El Centro Speedway in California.
"This is a huge step for super late model racing in Arizona and has the full commitment of USA Raceway and Canyon Speedway Park," says Porter.
The SWDRA by Total Seal will continue its weekly Hoosier Tire giveaway as well as other fan interaction elements of their program. Competitors will race for a weekly purse of $1,000 to win and $175 to start.
