Today, Brandon Sheppard the 17 year old UMP Late Model driver from New Berlin, Illinois officially became entered to compete in the 2011 Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals. In what is a truly local entry, Brandon will be sporting his usual B5 number in a Stealth chassis entered by AB&C Motorsports of Jacksonville, Illinois with a Chevy engine prepared by Dave Fulton of Berlin, Illinois. The car will be sponsored by Jacksonville Illinois produced Hefty Brands, Shepps Speedway and AB&C Moving and Storage.

Brandon has proven to be an accomplished Super Late Model driver in his short career, finishing 2nd in UMP Rookie points, 4th in the UMP Central Region and 12 in National Points in 2009. The 2010 UMP Season saw Brandon record 5 feature wins, again finish in the top 20 of National Points and 8th in UMP Summer Nationals points.

Brandon drove the B5 midget in a very limited number of POWRi races in 2010 making every feature event he entered while battling mechanical issues in several events. In his only other open wheel career start, Brandon made an impressive run to a top 5 finish in the 2010 Shaheen’s Blast From The Past winged sprint car event at Jacksonville Speedway against a field of some of the best winged sprint car drivers in the Midwest.

Brandon would like to thank the following people for their assistance in making the trip to Tulsa possible: Kenny Dobson, Mike Wankel, Joey Moughan, Mike Hess, Dave Fulton, Duane Moore, Ryan Blakeman, Alan Devlin, Rick Pollock, Steve Sheppard and Steve Sheppard, Jr.
