(July 23, 2010) Highland IL - This Tuesday night amongst the sounds of farm animals and carnival rides stock car racing takes center stage.

It’s time for the Madison County Fair Association’s 2010 UMP Challenge of Champions. With $3000 to win in the UMP Super Late Models, many big name drivers from across the Midwest make this race a must in their busy race schedules. Past winners of the event includes Highland IL’s Randy Korte, the Flatland Flash, Kevin Weaver, and the man most dominate over the past 9 years at this event, the driver known as The Mowequa Missile, Shannon Babb.

The UMP Modifieds always provides excellent wheel to wheel action at the Highland Speedway. Highland regulars Mike Harrison, Dean Hoffman, Jim Werner and Brian Bielong are expected to compete for the $700.00 in first place price money.

This year marks the Inaugural Scott Wernle Memorial for the Extreme Sportsmen, Scott the brother and crew man of Highland competitor Dennis Wernle, lost his life earlier this year in a farming accident. He was an integral part of his brothers racing operation and a big supporter of the Sportsmen Division.
With $1000.00 in first place prize money, this event will be attracting sportsmen racers from across the Midwest in attending this first time event.

Also on the program for the evening will be the fast and furious Factory Stocks, 4 cylinder race cars competing for $200.00 to win.

The Grandstand opens at 5:00 P.M. Races at 6:00; Pit Gates open at 2:00; Pill Draw ends at 5:45. Pit Passes are $35.00, General Admission is $20, Children (7-12) $10.00, under 7 free with paid adult admission and Box Seats are $25.00.
