2011: Highland Speedway’s Golden Anniversary

(Nov 18 2010) Highland IL – The upcoming 2011 race season marks a monumental occasion for the Highland Speedway as it celebrate 50 years of racing history.

Many events are now being planned to help celebrate the occasion. Track Promoter Scott Kuhn, in his third year of being in charge of the Speedway, announced today that along with the many changes the racers and fans will notice when they enter the Speedway, there will be many behind the scenes happenings to make the racing event a better experience for everyone in attendance. Kuhn said “One change we made already to the track was reposition dirt to increase the competition for every race” Kuhn Added “also we have solidified our commitment to the racers by increasing the presence of the UMP (United Midwest Promoters) DIRTcar series sanctioning origination.”

This season the Highland Speedway will have two full time UMP officials present at all the tracks racing events, one will be assigned the duties of Race Director and the other will be the Lead Tech Inspector. According to Kuhn “these indiduuals will help move the program along throughout the night and keep all the competitors’ in all the UMP categories complying with the rules of their respective classes.”

Returning to the race schedule in 2011 on June 22nd is the UMP Summer nationals a 30 race in 33 day traveling series for the Super Late Models. Also returning is the NALMS (Northern All Star Late Models Series) and the always popular Madison County Fair Race.

The complete 2011 race schedule will be forthcoming. The next event to close out the 2010 season is the annual Highland Speedway Banquet of Champions on December 17th at the Lindendale Park Ball Room in Highland tickets are available by contacting Promoter Scott Kuhn at skuhn@highlandspeedway.com
