Jacksonville, Ill. (January 26, 2022) -

The 2022 Morrow Brothers Ford, Inc. MOWA Sprint Car Series season is set to get underway in just over two months, kicking off the twelfth year of action-packed wheel to wheel racing for winged sprint cars in the Central Illinois region.

Their 2022 campaign will start with a two-day visit to 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday, April 1-2. The weekend events will be run in conjunction with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints . The season opening event at 34 Raceway will be non-points events.

Jacksonville Speedway will welcome the series on April 29, for its 50th appearance. All events at Jacksonville Speedway in 2022 have been named to memorialize some of the well-known Central Illinois racing families. April’s event has been coined “The Moughan”. Other visits to the 1/4 -mile bullring are scheduled for June 10 (“The Northrop”), July 29 (“The Standridge”), the annual Schuh-Barlow Memorial on September 16, recently renamed to honor longtime friend and supporter of the MOWA Sprints, Carolyn Schuh and finally, October 7 for the series finale, “The Milton”, a race to honor long-time racer and former Jacksonville Speedway promoter, Ron Milton.

Highland Speedway returns to the slate following an eight-year hiatus on May 28. In the series’ last visit to the Madison County oval, Christopher Bell won the A-Main event.

A highly-anticipated event that many drivers will have on their schedule will be Friday, June 3 at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. The #CupTimeSTL Short Track Classic, will serve as the kick-off to NASCAR weekend for World Wide Technology Raceway in nearby Madison, Illinois. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series and other classes will be included in this exciting event.

Fairbury Speedway also returns to the schedule on June 11, in a joint effort with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Cars for the Bill Waite Memorial.

Adams County Speedway, formerly Quincy Raceways, in Quincy, Illinois will once again host 410 winged Sprint Cars, for the first time since 2017.

Lincoln Speedway has two MOWA Sprints events on their schedule for 2022, the first on July 15 and the second on August 19 for the “Night Before the Mile” event.

The annual I-72 Shootout will once again take place on July 29 and 30 at Jacksonville Speedway on Friday and Macon Speedway on Saturday.

The 35th Annual Tom Knowles Memorial at Spoon River Speedway in Lewistown, Illinois is another marquee event on the series schedule. A win at “The Spoon” is a coveted win and on the checklist of many drivers.

As mentioned above, the 2022 MOWA Sprint Cars season will come to an end on October 7 at Jacksonville Speedway with “The Milton.”
