A promoter helping himself

We are gearing up for another trip to the school May 14 . This time we are bring one in every class to show the kids.
Some exciting things are coming to the Ferderated Auto Parts raceway I-55 this season stay tone ... Belleclair has a few tricks up there sleeve also this year .
Stay tuned .. You see at the track

Visit the English department when you are at the school. Might make it easier on people to read what you are trying to say.

No just think a person that is trying to promote something should do it correctly. That post had nothing to do with the cheating and dishonest practices that lead to me leaving Allied. We can get in to that stuff, but this thread is about helping tracks promote themselves, not crooked officials or board members. Jimmy if you where putting out a statement about something you were promoting would you make sure it was not filled with errors that make it hard to understand? I know the quality work you do and do not see you being happy putting out work like that.

We use to put our cars in parades, car shows, and sponsor appearances all the time. Still have good relationships with those sponsors, some are even going to be on the new car.

Lets hear from some drivers. How many are willing t do stuff like this. I understand maybe not veing able to take off work for the school thing, but sponsor appearances and car shows. Are drivers willing to do this? And if not, what would.it take to get them to do it?

And i know of a certain 8 year old that would be thrilled to see a race car show up at Cedar Springs Elementary in House Springs Mo..just sayin

In my opinion they need to quit advertising on Facebook, 4m, whatever racing site they advertise on. You need to go where there is NOT race fans and find new ones. If they just post on here hell I know drivers that don't get on these sites much let alone a new fan. I haven't seen any advertisements in newspapers or on radio down in this area since I move down here 8 years ago. back home the promoter would trade radio time for free tickets to the races and the radio station would give tickets away for fans to win as a call in gimmick both a win win deal.

I have been on the other side of the crash wall and worked with promoters with media stuff. Although radio is not as big now as it was (commercial impact) years ago. The idea of ticket give-a-way can work. You do have to print up a special ticket. Sometimes scratch the back of the radio station, and buy some ad time. But only buy on the day (before 5pm) of the racing. People have very short memories! The cool thing is you can check your results, coupon in a news paper is similar, on what the ticket stand received.

I totally agree you have to get away from the track to attracted new fans. Car shows are a great way to get to the demographic you are looking for. The Easter car show at Forest Park in STL is huge!! No race cars. The problem? Race car drivers/owners just can’t be bothered. (I have done it.) It can be boring, sitting around all day, answering over and over… “how fast does it go?” But, hey, what do all race car drivers have in common? A big ego… and it IS fun to have people say… cool car, how much hp, where do you race, etc.? Plus that potential new sponsor could be there. (And you are getting your sponsors exposure outside the race track.)

That's always the first question I have to answer to a non racing person " how fast does it go?" Is it wrong to say 88 mph and it travels thru time?

I agree local media needs to be involved. Newspaper or even local news stations. I have seen on the morning stl show where powri was introduced to the public. It was a few years back in channel 5. There is also a guy named Ross Wece who worked for a local news affiliate in Carbondale for a few years, now he is the media guy for the World of Outlaws, he would help promote southern Illinois raceway in his special Motorsports segment. The pedal to the metal show is great to listen to every week, but like you said we need to give the public an image of what is going on at the track. Everything else these days , vine app, is so quick. Just a quick commercial on channel 2,4,5 could bring some families out. Or maybe hey could not devote their entire sports segment to the cardinals.

I've heard some commercials for I-55 on the radio earlier this month..

I also see they have some of those big billboards on the interstates around STL for the upcoming Outlaw show

Part of that may be because people like you do nothing but come on here and 4m and run down every aspect of racing all the time.
