All Star Sprints Feature Great Competition
CAMARGO, IL – Now in their 26th season of competition, the Haulmark.com All Star Circuit of Champions is one of the most competitive dirt track sprint car racing series in the country. Over the past 26 seasons, 1332 races have been run with 146 different drivers making appearances in victory lane.
All the top names in sprint car racing have competed in the All Star series at some point in their careers. Current NASCAR drivers Dave Blaney, Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne are graduates of the All Star series. Other drivers who have won All Star races in the past include Steve and Mark Kinser, Joey Saldana, Frankie Kerr, Kevin Huntley, Bobby Allen, Jeff Shepard, Doug Wolfgang, Sammy Swindell, Rickey Hood, Danny Lasoski and Gary Wright.
For the 2005 season, a wide variety of the top open wheel drivers in the country will be in competition on the 59-race slate. Many pitsiders are saying this will be the strongest crop of drivers ever on the All Star campaign.
Drivers include:
-Chad Kemenah. The Findlay, Ohio driver has won the All Star championship the past three seasons and is the leading contender for the 2005 title.
-Kenny “The Mouse” Jacobs. The Holmesville, Ohio driver will be with a new team this season, Hunter Racing. Jacobs, a four-time series champion, is looking to add to his statistics leading 97 career All Star wins to reach the 100 win mark this season.
-Dale Blaney – The Hartford, Ohio driver was the 2004 Ohio Speedweek champion and a past World of Outlaws regular. He led the series with seven feature wins in 2004 and is looking to increase that total this season.
-Danny Smith – After recovering from a devastating shop fire over the winter, Smith turned in a strong showing at Volusia Speedway Park in February. The Danville, Indiana veteran has 27 career All Star wins.
-Jac “Wild Child” Haudenschild – The Wooster, Ohio veteran has teamed up once again with Ohio car owner Jack Elden with Jamie Miller turning the wrenches. Haudenschild is a former Knoxville Raceway track champion and finished second in the WoO points in 1995. He also won the Mopar Million non-winged race at Eldora Speedway.
-Randy Hannagan. The Hurricane is a former King of California and now operates out of Pittsboro, Indiana. He won a pair of All Star features in 2004, both at Eldora Speedway.
-Cody Geldart – The 17 year old Canadian is a Rookie-of-the-Year candidate and is the defending SOS (Southern Ontario Sprints) champion.
-Bill Rose – The Plainfield, Indiana driver is a veteran in both winged and non-winged sprint cars. He was the 2002 All Star Rookie of the Year and owns an All Star win as a car owner and is still looking of that first win as a driver.
-Jeremy Campbell – The Monroe, Michigan youngster was the 2004 All Star Rookie of the Year. He captured his first All Star win last October and is a former 360 sprint car national Rookie of the Year.
-Brock Mayes – The Bucyrus, Ohio youngster was the 2003 Rookie of the Year at Attica & Fremont in 410 sprint car class. Finished fifth in 2004 points in his first year following the circuit.
-Mike Brecht – 2004 Rookie of the Year candidate from Deshler, Ohio. Top runner in the NRA 360’s at Limaland. 2004 NRA Champion.
-Tony Elliott – The Warsaw, Indiana driver is teaming up with Ray Pullins this season. Elliott is a 2-time USAC sprint car champion (1998, 2000) and has over 200 career feature wins.
-Eddie Lynch – The Springfield, Illinois driver ran the full All Star tour for the first time in 2004, finishing 11th in the final points. The 35-year-old is a third generation driver.
-Cameron Dodson – The 2004 MASS champion will run a limited All Star schedule in 2005. Won ten sprint car features in 2004.
-Dean Jacobs – The Wooster, Ohio driver has 23 career All Star wins under his belt and was the 2001 Ohio Speedweek champion. He won one feature in 2004 but had many other top three finishes.
-Greg Wilson – The 29-year-old Benton Ridge, Ohio driver has 16 career All
Star wins and is looking forward to another strong season in the famous Bob
Hampshire No. 63.
-Barry Ruble – The Burton, Ohio veteran has finished in the top 10 in All Star points three times in the past four seasons.
-Phil “The Ohio Gasman” Gressman – The Helena, Ohio driver got better each week last season after joining the Pete Grove team. Gressman is a former 360 sprint champion and among his four career All Star win are a Sharon Nationals championship and a win at Lawrenceburg’s Hoosier Fall Classic.
-Paul May – Former GLOSS champion operates out of Terre Haute, IN and has one career All Star win. Always exciting on the track, May is looking to improve his finishing consistency in 2005.
-Bruce Robenalt – Following an injury-shortened 2004 season, Robenalt will race out of Tiffin, Ohio once again and look to break into the top ten in All Star points like he did in 2003.
-Mike Lutz – The 2003 ESS champion returns to the All Star tour for the first time in several seasons. Owns one career All Star win in 1997 at Fremont aboard the Bob Weikert No. 29.
-Kelly Kinser – A long time All Star campaigner out of Bloomington, IN, Kinser will pick and choose the All Star race he runs. Has 41 career All Star wins.
Add to this lineup regional drivers like Byron Reed, Rob Chaney, John Ivy and Mark Keegan who will compete in many Ohio races and Pa. stars like Fred Rahmer, Greg Hodnett and Lance Dewease who will compete in the Central Pa. events, and you have another star studded season on tap for 2005. “You never know who will win All Star race,” will once again ring true for sprint car fans this season.
