Haulmark All Star Sprint Results _ Attica Raceway Park - Fri. 4/11/03
ATTICA, OH _ Chad Kemenah recorded his first win of the year Friday
night at Attica Raceway Park in the Haulmark All Star sprint car 30-lap
Coor’s Nationals preliminary feature. It was Attica’s season opener which
paid the driver of Jim Harble’s Eagle Chassis $4,000 to. Kemenah’s win came
over Paul McMahan and a hard charging Greg Wilson, who came up from 15th
starting spot to record third on the last lap.
“My brother made me look good tonight, Kemenah recalled. ”He made my job
easy from the time we pulled in the gate. It was just perfect all night
long. I have to thank the Harble family, John from Underground Utilities,
Kear’s Speed Shop, Kistler Engines and Hoosier for an awesome tire.”
“We started catching him and our car got better near the end,” McMahan
said of second. “We just didn’t have enough for Chad tonight. We brought our
Miller Rigging J&J home second and I can’t complain a bit. I found the
middle of the track towards the middle of the race and got going pretty
good.”
Wilson was happy with third, “We just stood up over the steering wheel
and got after it a little bit,” he related. “Luckily the big guy upstairs
kept us on the racetrack and not on the horse track when the guys got
bottled up on the bottom. We had the right American Race tires on tonight.
About halfway through they got locked down real good and our Hampshire
engine was running great.”
For the start of the 10-mile contest it was Mark Keegan on the pole with
Rob Chaney alongside and Jason Johnson and Kenny Jacobs in row two. Keegan
jumped out into the lead at the start in the high groove, with Chaney second
until he slid off turn two on the second go round, putting Kemenah into
second. Kemenah, who started sixth, kept inching in on Keegan’s bumper and
dove low under Keegan exiting turn four to lead lap six. Keegan was now
second ahead of Johnson, Jacobs and Paul McMahan. The action was stopped on
lap eight when Byron Reed, who started 17th, got into trouble and flipped
once on the frontstretch, bringing out the red.
Kemenah led when the race resumed, and had built a half-straightaway lead
over Keegan when Sean Chaney spun to a stop on lap 10. When the green
reappeared, Kemenah jumped out into the lead again with Johnson making a low
groove pass of Keegan for second. Kemenah pushed out to another
half-straightaway lead and the action was really heating up for second third
among Johnson, Keegan, Jacobs and McMahan. Lap 15 saw Johnson and Keegan
side-by-side at the start-finish line with Keegan a nose ahead for second a
lap later. Johnson retook second the next go round and Keegan was ahead of
him again the next lap. As Kemenah entered heavy lapped traffic, Keegan held
second as McMahan challenged him. On lap 25, McMahan was right on his bumper
and on lap 26 McMahan went high around Keegan for second as Wilson was now
fifth. As Kemenah pulled away in heavy lapped traffic, Wilson put on a last
lap high side charge to sneak into third at the finish line over Keegan and
Kinser.
The final rundown was Kemenah, McMahan, Wilson, Keegan, Kinser, Jacobs,
Dean Jacobs, up from 11th, Lee Jacobs, Phil Gressman in the Holbrook 8H and
a fading Johnson.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Danny Smith, the B&B Products heat went to
Byron Reed, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by 16-year-old Brandon
Wimmer and the TP Wings heat fell to Craig Keel. Barry Ruble won the last
chance race and Andy James won the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main. Lee Jacobs
won the United Aluminum Window Sales & Consulting B Main and Chad Kemenah
was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier.

slate of over 60 sprint car race dates in 2003 from February to October in
action at 31 speedways in 17 states. America’s favorite dirt track series
has presented fans with the largest average car count and greatest number of
different race winners in the United States since 1980.
