Allied sportsman 602 crate engine.

Hey douche bag, this post was started for racing info, not your infantile little fantasies! Unless you have a question, which would mean you actually have a race car, not, the STFU! remember we have your picture !
so whats your point. You think im worried cause you got a picture of someone you thank might be me. good luck with that idiot and see you at pevely....

this is starting to remind me of the triple disk idea. take all the stuff you have that is paid for and is now obsolete, and buy this stuff. if you look at the 15 most regular cars at a place like belleville, how many guys have the money to spend 4000 plus on this engine? yeah, you would have to buy a new carb and a new deal for your clutch, dont forget that added cost. i know right now i dont have the money to do that, i wouldnt be able to race either track if the were mandatory down the road. and you would still need to periodically check these engines, i am sure somewhere there is a guy that could duplicate whatever seal allied is going to use, i am guessing some 3/8 bolts with safety wire and a lead fishing weight. i just wish they would keep the rules the same, and just enforce them. this crate deal will create a lot more arguing down the road, it wont bother me however, once they start telling me to add more lead i just will stop going there.

Jimmy,

I see your point to a certain extent but they can enforce the rules every week and the 10-12k motors are still legal.

I agree with james a 100% regarding costs for the low bux racer..i have no issue with the crate motors being added BUT allow the users the OPTION of running the 500 carb they have now or buying a 650 carb (I BELIVE THAT CARB WILL BRING THE POWER UP PAST THE PRESENT 350s ON 2 BBLS)I might as well get this out of the way as some might know alreadyI bought the yellow 15 car of bohensteel so i have completly legal car to run at bellville..i have what i belive is a legal allied 358 that when done will be a low dollar clone of a front runner..i will have no more than $1500 in the motor, intake to pan..lets face it,the sportsman class is exactly (for most of us)what the name implyes SPORTS..we run that class for the SPORT of racing, surly not to make money..JMO..lenny garson, not hiding behind a screen name

Lenny, the 602 is only rated 350 hp with the 650 4bbl. Wouldn't you be putting yourself at a disadvantage putting a 500 on it?

dave34 n pitdrifter,,,i know exactly what the winning motor cost app. $9 grand,,not cause it has some kind of exoctic parts but was assembled with all new parts,,fayette county had a open show in oct..emods n lets go racing,,fine competive show,,

ya,and 69 Z28 was rated at 275 hp,,another big GM lie...bet if you dyno a 602 with both carbs there would be a small spread on hp..cost factor

We lost alot of cars last year at highland over the rules. Is this just going to be the same ol stuff this year with the sportsmans? I say keep the rules the same and tech them more and this class will be great. Is it just a class to keep the drivers and crews guessing all the time?

we did extensive testing on crate engines prior to a winning season.everything from headers, carbs, valve settings,to find out that the biggest hp gain was in @#$#%$#@. well your right the power is in the fast burn chamber heads. dont waste ur time over thinking it. rumors of people running the 500 cfm down south only changed bottom end tourque. .......OH and by the way, my friend and i probably had the first crate late model in mo. back in 05. and this is sweet justice to all of you that laughed at us.....go gm

OH,AND BY THE WAY MY FRIEND...sure are a smart a** aint ya,,well guess its time for old fireball to tell it like it is,,we run for 300 to 400 in 3 to 5 thousand dollar (for the most part)cars,,you crate guys run for 5 to 6 hun in 6 to 15 thousand buk cars so looks to me like neather one of us is overly bright economically wise,

Fireball you are right on that. I would rather watch the sportsman then the crates. This is sad that they cant get everything on the same page and make the rule close so these guys can go to all the tracks around and have a chance to win.

i dont know if these 10 to 12 grand engines are legal or not, i doubt they are, but i think they should atleast be torn down and thouroughly checked. in 2009 i should have been torn down but never really was checked. i had friends telling me people were running their mouths about me cheating, why not ask why i wasnt checked instead of saying i was illegal. selling new engines with a 'seal' on it will not eliminate the need for tech

I think I have some seals left from the late 80's early 90's that were used by Allied to seal the old sportsman engines.
Maybe they'll come back in style.

THANX RICH

People say I'm getting crankier as I get older. That's not it. I just find I enjoy annoying people a lot more now. Especially younger people!!!

There are ways these motors could be marked that would alert anyone to the fact they were tampered with. A simple seal shouldn't be all that is done.

BUT IF IT WERE I THE PENALTY FOR TAMPERING WITH THE CRATE MOTOR WOULD BE SO STIFF YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO DO IT. UNLESS YOU PLAN ON CHANGING YOUR RACING PLANS!!! WHICH WITH A STL AREA SPORTSMAN AREN'T ALL THAT PLENTIFUL. JMO

The soap opera will continue,it wouldn't be the same Highland if it didn't." It's not who you know, it's who you b**w". Good Luck!

just whanting to know how many of u on this thread race sportsmen at i55. I race at i55 every sat i have 2 cars and 5 engines so every one whanting to change what is is going to make it hard for a lot of owners to go with this mess. For me to go out and buy 3 engines and every thang to go with them its not going to happen. Take a look at whoes posting how maney drivers whant a rule change going to coast a lot more then whats worth so if the rules change have fun i go some where else.

have an equivalency rule, and phase it in/ out after (pick one) 3, 4 years. give the crate engine a weight break, whereas you will have to declare what you are when signing in. that way, existing cars/(engines, really) are somewhat grandfathered in, and can run. by the 3 year(?) rule, these engines will not exist(or at least need rebuilt), and the crate engine will take over. as far as tech, the crate lm tech guys could give some input on that. there surely will be an attempt to cheat(it's inevitable, even for $300-400 to win, which makes zero sense) and that will have to be worked out. a way around that, if there is a time when an engine is protested, and allied confiscates it for teardown, are they going to supply the competitor with an engine in the meantime? i say no, because thats a chance you take in racing. if they blow an engine, is it the associations or tracks duty to lend/give an engine? again,no.they might, but its not their duty.
