First off the correct way to count is 123456789, not 123465789. Secondly tell Ralph I don't pay attention Joseph to open his eyes and observe the cautions. All he is doing is picking his nose and kicking dirt around, to me and quite a few others he is useless. So put the tool back in the box and start officiating the right way!

Hahahahahah!

Someone else sees it!

I wasnt there but....did anyone say anything to an official about whatever happened?

Not replyin to start a whole conversation on bashing officials.............just wondering if anyone said anything to an official last night about whatever it is that you are sayin happened? They seem alot more open minded to making things right from what ive seen

the only thing i noticed was that zach hoffman was running 5th in the mod feature and they restarted him 9th, not sure y they did and i could be wrong but I was watching him run and thought he was in 5th when caution came out, not sure if this is what they are talking about......+80+-7

well i will clarify my post a little better. in the LM heats Jim Moon and Steve Leach lined up in row 3 Moon on the inside making him 5th and Leach on the outisde making him 6th. 2 cautions on a start means single file start, so if im not mistaken Moon should have started in front of Leach hence the 12345678, not 12346578. As far as my Referencing to Ralph Joseph, his caution flag has to serve as a leaning post because he doesnt wave it. i can think of about 5 or 6 cautions where he completly stopped paying attention to what was going on on the track, when the caution comes out he should be waving his little yeller flag around like he is crazy so the other drivers see that there is a caution. not saying they dont but non the less. Simple Put Ralph see's only what he wants, i mean hell it cant be that hard to wave a flag, he knows how to point it at people and bang on cars with it. JMO

Wow Josh when did you learn to count all the way to nine? Do I see a white shirt in your future??

Shame you weren't at Pevely ! Ralph spent most of the evening repairing the broke down Allied truck and never even got his cheese nachos, let alone find time to pick his nose. Do some of you spend your whole night at the track looking for a mistake to pick apart the rest off the week??

Apparently there are those in the stands live in a perfect world and make no mistakes, see, hear, and know all...

Lets get real for a moment.... the officials in the corner stands less than 10' from the track, watching multiple cars moving by them at 60+ mph in a tight bunch around corners and sees what they see at that instance. The official has to be able to pick out all that goes wrong with each of the cars on the track or someone surely will run up and tell them "they missed something". The official does not have the wider view or the ability to watch one particular car like those further away. They attempt their best to watch all that happens around them. There are Competition Officials watching from a further distance and they occasionally can provide more details - yes it does happen, provided they were watching that particular area. The Flag Man is also watching what is going on the entire track, if they see something different they will weigh in - if they saw anything. Sometimes it comes down to the official calling the yellow saying "This is what I saw and that is the call I made". Popular or Unpopular its the call based on what they saw.

Now the fans... sitting 50' or more away with their vantage point which is different based on every seat in the house. The stands have a wider sight line of the track and can pick out problems in a larger group, provided you are watching that particular spot. Yes I have seen it from both sides of the fence. Its a wonder they have to fight to get officials every year to do this thankless job. I know its a choice to be an official or a fan. Officials don't get to see all that happens on the track all night --- only what happens in their zone. Yes the officials normally miss the great slide job, photo finish, great move.

Even more thankless / stressful job is the scorers.... if I was the last person on earth I would not do that job (yes I have very sadly tried). Cars speeding by a 6" line on the wall, you have to see / decipher the number on the car (not always easy to read them), processes it, and get your hand to write clearly without looking... oh yeah there are 20 or more cars wizzing by that 6" line on the track, some in packs separated by only a few inches. Some classes are easier and it only gets more difficult as you step up the classes /speed. Try sitting up close to the track next time, staring at each of the cars as they drive in front of you. Score the each lap, each race including cautions at your local track for an entire race evening. Imagine you are the ONE responsible for scoring them at the line, lining them up on cautions, reporting points, getting them paid correctly. Don't think I have ever heard of a driver come up and thanking them for scoring their race.

The officials do try their best and hear alot of "thoughts and comments" each evening. None of them are out there picking on any particular driver - despite what is believed. Every week the officials go in with an open mind and tries their best. At the end of the night you are tired, and hope you did not get chewed out too bad and live for another week of racing. They do it because they love racing too. They may occasionally miss one, but the next time catch one. All in All the officials do a very good job.

I am sure there is a shirt that will fit you if you feel you can do better.

awesome post johnny I challenge anyone to set next to the scoreres for 1-24 car feature and see how fast they can write without looking and get it right for two laps let alone 25 laps for a late model feature. Big Paul

My referencing to Ralph is that when the caution came out and the yellow lights are on he needs to be waving his flag just like the rest of them. i said nothing about the scorers. as far as my line up comment that was on a start with 2 cautions. So just to be clear once more i made no coment about the score keepers.

Transponders will fix that scoring thing. Since they are going to transponders will the results be posted on my laps at a later date? It's cool to look on mylaps and see lap times and what lap a driver made or lost a spot.
Don't they have a race director overseeing the race from the top of the vip tower to call out some judgment calls? great view from there. Never going to get everything right but they try.

Come on now Josh. The corner workers line up the cars the way the scorers tell them to. So, when you complain about the way the cars are lined up, you are referencing the scorers. You should know that! Btw, since I haven't seen actually drive a car in awhile, why don't you do like Johnny suggests, give scoring a try sometime. If you do I bet you would change your tune, and give the apology to that you owe to the scorers
