AMRA Looks for another Exciting Weekend
Over 100 Cars Participate in May 20th Weekend Races!
Weather Continues to Play Havoc with Local Race Schedules

MT. ALTO-The American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) is anticipating another banner weekend this Memorial Day Holiday Weekend as Beckley Motor Speedway and Elkins Raceway kick off the Friday Night Action May 27th. Several other tracks have big weekend agenda's for Saturday, May 28th as Thunder Mountain, K-C Raceway, Ohio Valley Speedway, I-77 and O'Brion Oval Speedway are geared up for "Super Saturday"! At press time only Skyline had cancelled because of the heavy rains this week. Princeton Speedway, WV is idle this week according to the website, however, plans a big race weekend next Saturday.
Last week, the AMRA drew over 100 cars collectively at its Saturday night sanctioned tracks. K-C led the AMRA parade with 33 entries, Ohio Valley had 25, and I-77 had 24 cars. Thunder Mountain had a lesser number of cars, however, in good faith promoter Jeremy Livingood paid a top dollar purse and this week bolsters its modified purse with a $750 to win/$100 to start race. Tenth place will pay $150, a very good payoff for the AMRA open wheelers.
Federated Auto Parts has come aboard with Sprint Cup driver Kenny Schrader for a super open-wheel weekend June 10 and 11 at Natural Bridge Speedway and Beckley Motorsports Park.
These events will be AMRA Road Warrior events and Schrader will be at both speedways in his Federated Auto Parts modified. Latest indications are that Kenny Wallace may also be part of the weekend program.
The relative close proximity of the two tracks will give AMRA drivers and local favorites a chance to compete for a high-dollar purse and a chance to compete against the nation's most versatile drivers.
