Mount Alto, WV- The American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) is poised for another big racing weekend for its Modified series which features a $1,000 Invitational for the AMRA regulars Friday, Sept. 30 at Elkins and the Road Warrior Challenge on Saturday, Oct. 1 at K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio.
The American Motor Racing Association season is winding down and another exciting racing season and points' battle is climbing to a dramatic climax. Both the AMRA national Points' title and Road Warrior Challenge series title are ultra close. Additionally, some thirty-plus drivers are vying for money positions in the AMRA standings.
The next AMRA RWT event will be at Jeff and Vicki Schrader's K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio on October 1. Not only is this event important in the realm of the AMRA points, but also the event will be a final prelude to the Dirt Track World Championship modified event, coming October 13,14, and15. Also the DTWC pays $3,000 to the winner. The Oct. 1 Road Warrior event pays $1,200 to win.
Kenny Johnson is now the National AMRA Points leader and is the defending champion, however, Andy Bond lies in wait just six points behind. Johnson recently captured his 17th win of the 2011 racing season.
Thirteen other drivers mathmatically have a chance at the title or at least a run to the top five. That group is led by early season points' leader Vince Conrad, followed by Robert Garnes, Rick Venham, Jr., Jeremy Blake, J.P. Roberts, Robbie Evans, Joe Cox, Louie Krushansky, Doug Henry, Tom Sizler, Darin Roush, Deana Groves, and Matt Chenoweth.
Deana Groves, Doug Henry, and Joe Cox are the front runners for the Road Warrior Challeng pay-off.
In the Late Models Chris Garnes leads Andy Bond, K-C Burdette, Larry Bond, Travis Brookover, Colton Burdette, Ronnie Mayle, Harold Redman, Jr., Ed Shyuman, and Kenney Newhouse. That battle is tight and up for grabs among any member of an elite group of AMRA drivers.
The AMRA would like to thank all participants in this year's banner season. The organization is working on rules and ideas for next year. An anticipated release date of late October is in the works.
