AMRA Tracks Announce Opening Dates

MT. ALTO, WV-Now flaunting a power-packed line-up of eleven tracks in four states, the American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) is anxiously awaiting the start of its 2010 racing season. Speedways signing on with the AMRA have, for the most part announced their opening dates, allowing competitors and fans time to prepare for the upcoming season.

The el-nina, moisture filled winter weather may be a factor as to actual season-opening dates, however, AMRA promoters are hopeful that the scheduled target dates will become a reality. The first AMRA track slated to open is the Potomac Speedway in Budds Creek, Maryland on March 19; the Eastside Speedway in Waynesboro Virginia on March 27; and Skyline Speedway, Stewart, Ohio on April 2.

Schrader’s K-C Raceway has set an April 10th season opener with the AMRA Road Warrior Challenge, Rocky Top Speedway is set to open its gates April 16, and Beckley Motor Speedway, Ohio Valley Speedway, O’Brion Oval Speedway, Elkins Speedway, and I-77 are looking to start in late April or early May.

The AMRA has announced an explanation of awarded points. Only the best 20 AMRA finishes will count in the National point’s championship. Drivers can receive AMRA points at any of the AMRA sanctioned tracks. The driver takes his best 20 weeks. To earn points, a driver must be a member of the AMRA.
In order to race an AMRA event, drivers must have a temporary ($15) license or a full membership. After four temporary permits are issued, a driver becomes an AMRA member and can start earning points. With an initial full membership ($45) a member begins earning points immediately.
In addition to AMRA points drivers also can take advantage of individual track point funds.
