Toledo, Ohio, January 6
ARCA Monday announced specifics of its television plans for the 2003 season, with SPEED Channel carrying 10 of the 22 events live. In a coincident development, ARCA also announced that its May race at Charlotte would be moved from May 17 (Saturday) to May 22 (Thursday), to follow time trials for NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600.
The Outdoor Channel also is a partner in the ARCA program, carrying four races on a delayed basis. The Outdoor Channel, for the fourth year, also will offer "ARCA Racing This Week", a news magazine show devoted to ARCA's series.
In addition, SPEED Channel will offer three other races on tape, either same-day or day-after. Broadcast plans for the remaining five events have not been made.
In an interesting twist, the race at Kentucky Speedway May 10, one of SPEED Channel's live prime-time events, also will be broadcast live locally in the Cincinnati market by WLWT, the NBC affiliate. WLWT is title sponsor of the race, called the Channel 5-205.
