Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (February 4, 2007) – A pair of the new American Sprint Car Series regions will kick off the 2007 season in grand fashion on Saturday afternoon, as the ASCS Coastal and Rebel Regions will converge upon Deep South Speedway's First Annual Mardi Gras Bash in Loxley, AL.

The Mardi Gras Bash atop Deep South Speedway's high-banked, 4/10-mile clay oval fires off at 2:00 p.m. Pit gates open at 10:00 a.m., with grandstands opening at noon.

A stout field of competitors is expected as the inaugural championship chases for both the ASCS Coastal and ASCS Rebel Regions gets under way. And those title chasers will face some tough rivals in the opener, with past ASCS National champions Wayne Johnson and Terry Gray among those expected for the card.

Saturday's card will culminate with a 24-car feature event. The winner takes away a $2,000 winner's share, with all feature starters earning at least $300.

For the 2007 season, the ASCS Rebel Region will sanction Sprint Car racing throughout Georgia, Alabama and North Florida, while the ASCS Coastal Region will consist of approximately 20 events in Mississippi and the surrounding area including portions of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Texas.

Deep South Speedway is located in Loxley, AL, off I-10 Exit 44, then four miles north on SR 59, then ¾-miles west. For more information contact the track at 251-964-6953.
