Collierville, TN (06/22/10) – To say that Riverside International Speedway has not been kind to Ashley Newman would be an understatement, but on Saturday night he powered the #73 Tucker Motorsports/Parts Plus/Valvoline/Larry Shaw Race Car/Dynotech Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified to his best career finish at the historic oval.

The team returned to action at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas on Saturday night. Twenty cars entered the Weekly Racing Series Event, and after starting 4th in his heat race, Ashley advanced to a second place finish to earn the fourth starting spot for the feature event. Early in the feature, Newman would jump to the second spot as he pursued Chase Gustavus for the lead. Gustavus would struggle in lapped traffic, which allowed Newman to drive past him for the lead. Ashley led the next six laps before a lapped car caused him to check up, allowing second place runner, Tony Anglin to slip by for the lead. Newman would chase Anglin the rest of the distance to the checkered flag as he picked up a second place finish, which was his best ever on the gumbo, ¼ mile.
