Lonnie Bailey, Steven DeLonjay, Jeff Mueller and Wes Mayfield all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, August 17 during Yellow Book Carload Night at the Races.

Veteran Ron Elbe took the lead of the Budweiser J&J Steel IMCA Late Model feature event and pulled out to an impressive lead until Jason Frankel climbed through the field to run him down on the seventeenth lap. Frankel blasted past for the lead and look to be on his way to another feature event win but disaster was going to strike after taking the white flag on lap twenty nine. Frankel’s right rear tire exploded entering turn one on the last circuit forcing him to slow enough for Lonnie Bailey to take the lead with less than a half lap to the checkered flag. Bailey took the win, his first of the year by only a second and a half at the checkered flag. Frankel kept his car under control and settled for second followed by Elbe in third, Robby Warner in fourth and Justin Reed in fifth. Jerry Weisenberger and Elbe were the heat race winners while Jason Perry scored the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash. Frankel now holds a commanding twenty three point margin over Mark Burgtorf going into the final points of the year, the Season Championship night on Sunday, August 24.

Jared Schlipman lead the first eight circuits of the Miller Lite Modified main event but Robbie Reed sweep through the field and took over the top spot on the ninth lap. Reed looked like he would pick up another feature win but a caution flag came out on the nineteenth lap putting rookie Steven DeLonjay on his back bumper. DeLonjay pulled past Reed to take the lead on the restart and took a second and six tenths lead to the checkered flag on the twenty fifth lap. Reed settled for the second spot followed by Justin Reed in third, Jared Schlipman in fourth and David Wietholder in fifth. Robbie Reed, Schlipman and Michael Long took the heat race wins. Long grabbed the win in the makeup Advance Trading Trophy Dash from August 10 with David Wietholder scoring the win in the regular dash. Tony Dunker now holds a slim 525 to 521 point margin over Long followed by DeLonjay with 520 markers with only one points race night remaining.

Jeff Mueller was the class of the Triple R Performance Engines Sunoco IMCA Stock Car field again as he took his season leading eighth win in sixteen events. Points leader, Chris Wibbell tried in vain to get past Mueller but had to settle for the second spot by a little more than four tenths of a second. Doug Hulls finished in the third spot followed by David Wietholder in fourth and Steve Steinkuhler in fifth. Sarah Woodhurst and Rusty Tobias were the heat race winners.

Wes Mayfield got his third feature event win of the season in the Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock main event and closed up the points race to only five points behind Aaron Brocksieck. Jim Powell scored the second spot followed by Steven Watkins in third, James Leffew in fourth and Steve Carlin in fifth. Bobby Anders Jr. and Leffew were the heat race winners.
