Bardstown, KY-September 17, 2011- The American Modified Series would conclude its 2011 tour on Saturday evening with the 11th Annual Bluegrass Rumble and Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY would take the win and the $1,500 payday. Other feature event winners included Jeff Watson of Campbellsville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Scott Beeler of Louisville, KY in the $300 to win special for the UMP Street Stocks, and Danny Blackwell of Taylorsville, KY in Clayton Homes of Stanford UMP Sportsman.

Jimmy Payne would take the lead at the start of the American Modified Series 11th Annual Bluegrass Rumble main event and would be challenged immediately by Bryan Barber for the top spot. Payne would keep Barber at bay until lap 4 when Barber would make his move off of turn two and grab the race lead. The only caution of the event would turn to a red flag when third place running Joey Kramer would get spun in turn four and Kramer would wind up hitting the concrete wall and flipping his car onto its top. After a lengthy clean-up period, action would resume and Barber would continue to roll at the point, while Benji Lee would go to second. Trent Young and 12th place starting John Demoss would battle for third, with Demoss eventually gaining the position with five laps remaining. But the night would belong to Barber as he would see the checkered flag first aboard his B&B Motorsports/All Star Performance/Bandit Race Cars/ Dyer’s Top Rods/Bilstein/Frankland Racing Equipment sponsored #10 Bandit Race Car, Jay Dickens Race Engines powered mount. Lee would settle for second, with Demoss taking third. Young would come home in fourth, while Michael England would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Payne, Elliott Despain, Randle Sweeney, Kelly Warren, and Dion Benningfield. In preliminary action, Ricky Arms would be the top qualifier among 24 entries at 16.130 seconds. Heat race wins would go to Payne, Kramer, Barber, and Lee.

The 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model feature event would see polesitter Tim Tungate jump to the race lead and have almost a full straightaway lead until Danny Erskine, Jr. would spin to slow the action on lap 16. Tungate would again pull away from the field until he would stop in turn two on lap 20 with a flat right rear tire. This turn of events would hand the race lead over to Jeff Watson and Watson would hold off the charges of Lee Devasier to pick up his first win of the season at Bluegrass Speedway in the Robert Earl owned All Star Trucking/Kentucky Clutch/AGI Trucking/Farris Plumbing sponsored #44 Rocket Chassis, Dargie Race Engines powered entry. Devasier would take runner-up honors, while 7th starting Tim Rivers would finish third. Tungate would recover from his flat tire to rally to a fourth place finish with a turn four, last lap slidejob pass on David Webb, who would finish fifth. The remainder of the top ten would be Jason Hinkle, Kevin Colston, Jarryd Holshouser, Jeff Walston, and Danny Erskine, Jr. Preliminary action would see Jeff Walston establish a new Super Late Model track record at 14.492 seconds in time trials among 11 entries. Tungate would win the dash, while Rivers won the heat.

Scott Beeler would grab the race lead in the early going of the 20 lap, $300 to win special for the UMP Street Stock division and would never look back in scoring his third win of the season at Bluegrass Speedway behind the wheel of his Bootleg Bar-B-Q/Pro Tint/Amsoil/Mac’s Race Engines/Terry’s Satellite City/Daryl Hadley Racing sponsored #12. Bryan Derringer would finish in second, while Mark Filiatreau would make a late race charge to finish third. Mike Bailey and Fred Mercer would complete the top five. Beeler would be the top qualifier among 11 entries at 19.990 seconds, while Mercer won the dash, with Derringer winning the heat.

Pat Hagan would lead the first 13 laps of the Clayton Homes of Stanford UMP Sportsman main event until suffering mechanical woes and pulling pitside, handing the race lead over to Danny Blackwell. Blackwell would survive the two lap shootout to capture his second win of the season at Bluegrass Speedway in the seat of the Noel’s Auto Sales/Kentucky Outdoors Magazine/Custom Fabrication and Machine Shop sponsored #B1. Robbie Settles would get around Avral Thompson on the restart and would hang on for second, with Thompson taking third, and Derek Bottoms would finish fourth, while Hagan would finish fifth. Seven entries would see the heat race win fall to Hagan.
