DOE RUN, MO--(June 17, 2005) Dustin Barks and his little brother Landon are not strangers to Doe Run Raceway. Dustin first began racing at the Raceway in a kart, then as he got older, in his bright yellow #22 600cc Multi. Landon is a regular participant in the Stock Kart class in his bright yellow #8 kart. Fans at the Raceway were given a special treat this past Friday evening as both young men won the main event in their respective classes.

In the 600cc Multi class, Dustin Barks started front row outside after winning his heat race, and despite intense pressure from the #97 of Junior Ferguson and the 7x of Brody Stewart was able to capture the win. Ferguson had to settle for second, Stewart third, Joey Boyd fourth and Jimmy Bridgeman fifth. Ferguson won the first heat, Casey Barnhouse second, Bridgeman third. Stewart finished second to Barks in the second heat, Boyd third.

Not to be outdone by his big brother, Landon Barks put on quite a show in the Stock Kart class. Barks drew a high number for his heat race starting position and had to start from the next to the last row, but by the time the checkered flew, he was nipping at the heels of Braydon Wright. Wright ended up taking the flag first, Barks second and Jesse Wright third. Braydon Wright finished second to Barks in the main event, Andrew Cash third, Jesse Wright fourth and Scottie Gretzmacher fifth.

Mike Zaricor returned to the winners circle in the Dwarf car class main event. Vince Conway finished second, Dave Huffman third, Bill Beard fourth and Billy Craig fifth. Jim Black won the first heat, Conway second and Brad Paquet third. Zaricor won the second heat, Huffman second and Craig third.

In what proved to be one of the most exciting races of the season, Shannon Burch sailed across the finish line first for a victory in the Mini Stock class. Brian McGee finished second, Mike Meyer third, Dave Wofford fourth (after starting 16th) and Ron Moser fifth. Burch won the first heat, Meyer second and CJ Wright third. Wofford picked up the checkers in the second heat but was disqualified for missing the mandatory post race weigh in. This moved Marty Boyer up to the #1 finishing position in the second heat, McGee second and Bill Nickelson third.

Racing will resume Friday June 24th with night #2 of the Non Winged 600cc Multi point series. Please note winged cars will not be racing that night. Also participating will be the Mini Stocks, Dwarf Cars and Stock Karts. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., racing begins at 8:00 p.m. For more information, visit the track's website at www.doerunraceway.com or phone (573) 756-8889.
