A picture i took on the last day of the season 9-17-1982. I loved the track before all of the inside fences where put up, it seemed a lot bigger back then.

Yep. Those were the days. Everyone pitted on the infield too. Brought ALL you stuff down and unloaded. They would be 2 deep in the center and lining the outside as well..Great picture Duane!!
 
Parts Gal is right, I remember when we raced there in those days (which wasn't very often) we always tried to pit in the center. That way we avoided cars that would spin into the pits and wipe out your stuff, or worse. There were alot of tracks back then like that. B-ville, St. Charles, Lake Hill, Granite City on the back straight, just to name a few. We didn't really think about it too much back then. It was just the way things were. If you notice me in the infield at B-ville these days you will still see me towards the center, and not too close to the walls. I guess I just learned the hard way in a time when there were no walls.
