Belle-Clair Updates 8-7-15

Finish Voigt Manville Martin Schulte Bailey Walker Cole Weidner Standridge Kloos Hammerle Cooksey DNF Suhre Jacober Dauderman Thornton Klein Salter McKinnon Rumble.

Voigt did not deserve this win. He said he never changed his line. Suhre had him beat and voigt flat dumped him, just like he did to.cody connor last week at pevely

Vogt will never change. He ruined a great finish. He was beat. Then he blamed the 4 car in the interview. Just a pathetic POS!!!

Unbelievable ... With the entire place watching and the allied officials make a call like that ....it sure does make the racers and fan not to come back.Voigt should have been black flagged for rough driving. My hats off to Suhre for an awesome job tonight and better luck with the officials calls next time.

OK-don't like a call--don't like some ones driving--don't like the finish???? OK-don't return BUT remember --no fans = no raceing at that track--by staying away you are hurting ALL the racers-----------------------------JMO

Nice job by Dauderman too for just pulling off and not retaliating on Schulte and escalating the problem, which probably would have meant more wrecked cars who weren't involved. Officials had a perfect opportunity at the fuel stop to warn both drivers, but i guess if it didn't happen at an Allied track, it didn't happen? And congrats to Suhre on his run.

Even though he didn't elect to go back out, since it was a green and white together finish, shouldn't Suhre have been scored ahead of Joe Cooksey, who was two laps down? (As Suhre would've completed 99 laps)

Also, I thought Jason announced that they would not be counting yellow laps unless 40 minutes had elapsed. I set a 40 minute timer on my phone, and hit start the exact moment the green flag flew at the start. I kept track of the laps in my notebook, and they were clearly counting yellow laps before the 40 minute mark. It may not have affected the outcome of this race, but what if someone makes--or doesn't make--weight by just a few pounds? I mean, methanol weighs, what, six pounds a gallon? I don't know how much fuel these cars use in a lap at Belle-Vegas, but I would have to think that 8-10 laps under yellow vs. under green could make enough of a difference in fuel weight to be an issue. (To speak nothing of additional laps of tire wear on a worn out track late in a marathon race.)

Honestly, I think 100 laps is just way too long. If they want to keep the "100 laps" theme, why not just pay a little extra for the mods, run them 30 laps, the LMs 50, and a third class 20 feature laps for 100 laps of feature racing?

I agree with most on here, Suhre had him and it was set up for the best finish possible with it coming down to lap 100. Unless Jason over drives in a corner he had it. Voight was fading, tires wore out , top was getting slower and the bottom was the place to be. Props to Suhre for coming out of now where and nice job by both Jason and Bobby for not staying on the track and retaliating. Schulte is a real piece of work. Voight just solidified his bad reputation by not racing clean at the end.

Here is a question. Why is no one talking about the driver and crew on the infield throwing things at mevert while in the car? They should all have been thrown out on the spot.

You're right about the scoring Cooksey was 2 laps down. I just wanted to separate the DNF cars from the finishers.

As far as the incident in the Modified feature goes, you can add me to the growing number of people who say the double-file restart should go. if drivers as talented as Korves and Mevert have problems something is wrong. That was 2 drivers going all-out and really only a result of the close-quarters racing. Track is just too small.

I have been a big Allied supporter during all of our racing years but........they need to go back to the rule that says.......If you are involved in the yellow you go to the back. Both instances would have been more fair and racers will think twice about rough driving others. BTW I don't know the Suhre family or the driver but my hat is off to them. Everyone in the stands starting watching him closely with about 20 to go and it made for an exciting night. Not only did Voigt steal money from them, he took what would have been a spectacular memory for that team and turned into a painful one.

According to my Facebook time stamps the race started at 10:04.... at 10:42 they had 44 laps in. at 10:49 the caution for the 18 not going to the tail was thrown. With 44 laps in they started counting yellow flag laps because I even noted that they announced it in the fb update. I really like that they didn't count caution laps but they seemed slow to go back green. Taking away the double file restarts may reduce the number of cautions but it will take away from the racing... Delaware double file restarts make the racing so much more exciting.

Deleware restarts keep racers honest. If the start cant be pulled off its because the racers cant work with each other. Plain and simple. Does it breed cautions? Of course. Single file makes people jump the starts way too easily and creates freight train racing from the get go. I know everyone wont agree with this statement but im not alone in it as well.
