Benton, MO Poll

Run what you want... But lower budget cars with less $$ involved will bring bigger car counts... If you bring more cars, you will bring more people.. Billy Joe , and Larry build a pure street... They have 10 friends who help them in the shop, and their respective family members. Not to mention their buddies familys.. These group effort teams are what made racing back in the day, when times were tough, like they are now.. Not to mention, the payout for these classes is considerably less than, sprints, and latemodels.. I have been to Benton a number of times, from big ASCS shows to regular race nites.. I never saw many butts in the stands... Could it be there just arent any real race fans in those parts? Yet i could go to Poplar Bluff and see the stands full.. It may be logistics people...Cause on a normal night you have a large good facility. The recovery crew has always lack alittle to be desired IMHO. That is my biggest peeve with the track.. I cant see why it cant survive.. There are several racers in the area, that can and will support the track.. We need people in the stands... Make it affordable, and make it family oriented, and keep the dang food prices down!!! They were way to high!!

Paducah and Malden are Fridays...
Farmington is a fair distance away

Run Crates on Saturday and an economic mod class

JMO - The first thing that I would do is totally replace the dirt on that track. It makes no difference what classes you have, the track surface at Benton has been the biggest problem. If it was replaced with same type of clay that Farmington or I55 has, you would have a high car count in what ever class you run.

For as classes, I would run Crates/Steel Block, - A mods on hard tires, B-mods on hard tires, Purestreets, then try running a special show once a month to see how it works out. If you would work close with Maldens rules you would probably get a good car count. I know that worked well for Poplar Bluff when it was open. Two tracks with the same rules are a plus for everyone. Also the biggest thing is to set some rules and stick to them.

For as what night with the location of the track, Saturday nights would be a good night.

You need to post this on Midsouthracing.com also. I believe that is the area that most of your car would come from. JMO.

Race on Saturday nite......bring in crates, a-mods, E-mods, pure streets, and maybe some kinda 4 banger class (same as Malden). Maybe let the hobby cars (Super street) go against the sportsman guys once a month. Have a few big shows during the season bringing in sprints and vintage cars. Lower entry fees and food prices. Maybe change the track dirt, if not then have someone who knows what they're doing work the track. Get the kids involved, they'll be beggin mom and pop to take 'em to the races. Bring in tech people who are honest and fair(lol). I raced Benton back in the early to mid nineties when Simpson owned it and loved that little track. Get the show started early and over early.

run multis

i would run if you run multis! if not i come watch if you have sprintcars! goodluck hope you get it goin always had good time at this facility!

i would run there if it was fastrak and on saturday nights. the dirt is good but when it is to wet it is a mess. but there is going to be tons of red clay available before long..

Well....It looks like there are some good ideas.. Work with the local tracks... Run their classes... Etc... Good advice... Run the classes that are in the area, and those that pull the most cars....Let me say one thing about mods.....I dont know what maldens car count is with the E-mods, but we copied their rules at the Rock. They pulled a good car count... A few guys moved up to the class from purestreet, and it was very racy, with 12-18 cars every night. THEN... Someone got the idea to change the rules to Montgomery Co rules, and the class dwindeled to nothing. Thats basically an A- mod with steel heads and a 2 bbl; instead of a limited vacuum pulling motor, with stock heads. It RUINED the class... It no longer exists at Fredericktown!! It was the best racing by far in all the classes... Any car in the top 5 could have won any night.. So PLEASE learn from this fiasco.

Malden has a pretty good e-mod count most nites and usually very competitive. Benton would be a fun track to race an e-mod on.
