after watching timmy hill blow a tire at tri-city last night I started thinking about who is the best modified driver I have watched, but have never seen win a feature. I don't know if he has or not ... josh russel is another driver I haven't seen win a feature but is always around the front. not saying they haven't won I just haven't been there.... any opinions dirtboy ,,, jimmy d ,,, and lets keep it civil, no haters please thanks

I'm pretty sure Horton & Puricelli have won feature at I-55 back several years ago..

Also, if by Stephens you mean Rick Stevenson, he's won many feature over the years at Tri-City on the old 1/4 mile. Pretty sure he was track champion there one year.

Josh Russell is probably the one that stands out the most to me.. Always pretty fast, but no feature wins yet.

Brad Thurston & Paul Bauman also come to mind.

Also, this is his first year in a mod, but look for Danny Ems to get that first win soon as well.

Josh Russell! Seen him come second too many times, hope he gets back out there soon and gets one.

I don't think Russell has won at belleclair or anywhere else. Almost won at Montgomery earlier this year, but came up just short

This post is cool to think about! I myself have been that guy u all speak of. I've got to win a hand full of features but I've spent the later years of racing always in the top five or second close to a win!! It is a hard challenge being that person that pulls in the track knowing u have to try and beat long, harrison,Hoffman, belong, walsh,Griffaw ect . Trust me it's not a lack of effort that comes from these drivers that r sooo close. There r endless nights spent in the shop trying to beat these drivers. This is a lot of r dreams growing up as kids wanting to b the man on top and it is a lot of hard wrk and sacrafises made in r daily life's. Some r gifted wth a talent and money and some have to come frm nothing to get there!!! Any one that shows up to the race track to race is always gonna b someone that's close to winning . The effort to b there and doit is the part that gets the respect frm me cuz it's hard wrk. Don't get me wrong it's fun and victory makes it all worth it!! Back to the people u we're talking about, josh Russell in my book deserves a win right now to help keep achieving his goals. Him and his family r truly great people and r hard racers and I take my hat off to them and hope they get a new car back together after Fridays crash. Good luck to all the drivers that read this and have Bn this person this post talks about. Ur only as good as u make ur self :)

I was just referring to them bcuz theyre fast every week but just hadn't won one lately. I meant Kyle Stephens (not recently i know)and yes Rick Stevenson..Timmy Hill has won some features too, Montgomery, St. Francois that i know of for sure..he also won that "Non Feature Winner Feature" at pevely last year which was a he'll of a race and a good idea.

I am sure there are racers that run a entire carrier and never so much as win a heat....but week after week they show up and run the pizz out of their cars....but a guy like Kenny Wallace jump in a car for the first time and win--I have a few features under my belt but at this stage I fully realize the chances of me winning again are remote....................BUT what else am I gon-a do---sit home with my dogs???

Unfortunately, I know for a fact Joe Puricelli has NOT won a feature. I've helped him for years. Have had a few 2nd places but still chasing that victory in a Feature.
He would get my vote for best driver without a victory but, I'm a little biased. Josh Russell would also get my vote.

don't you dare

wow... thanks to all that have posted. there are some names on this list that I totally forgot about. I have been around racing a while now and have been behind the wheel and also spectated. I was fortunate enough to win features in the street stock, and won a feature on fair night a few years ago at Belleville in a sportsman car driving for my brother. with that being said I still remember my first win in each car and how cool it was, so that was why I posted... bumpngo4 hit the nail on the head... it takes a lot of work, time, and a lot of money to be competitive. I have nothing but respect for anyone that gives it a go. I wish all these guys mentioned the best of luck and hope I am there when they win. as far as you mister fireball,,, my hat is off to you as well.. guys like you and ed Dixon, bill faust, mike hammerle, kevin gundaker, rick kloos, dennis sellers, don kleine, marty smith, bob geaschel, bo smith just to name a few, you were the guys that I couldn't wait to see mix it up on the weekend when I was growing up. you don't have to win every weekend to be someones favorite driver, you just had to be there racing... as far as staying home... fireball as long as you are having fun let it eat and have fun cuz that's what its all about... once again thanks for the replies tim

Tommy is correct, Paul did win a feature in August of 2007, his first year in a mod. He hasn't won one since, though. Hopefully we can get rid of the bad luck that's hung around the past few years, get the car handling right, and change that this year. :) I would like to add that Josh Russell is a great driver. We're impressed with him week in and week out and look for him to get that first feature win very soon. The same goes for Danny Ems.

I have never seen Kenny Wallace jump in a car an win the first time just saying he might have but I don't remember his program is coming along but he has a ton of money in it an full time employees #heshouldwin
