Columbus, MS-The MSCCS held doubleheader events in the southern portion of the state with two winners coming out of the weekends races but nonetheless familiar faces in the Mississippi dirt racing community. Scott Slay remains on top in the points with Dennis Duncan and Rodney Wing following closely while Mike Boland appears to have begun his charge to toward the top five.

Friday night action at Southern Speedway in Hattiesburg saw Scott Slay go on a flag to flag romp to take his second MSCCS win of the year with previous week’s winner Dennis Duncan taking second with Sumrall’s Keith Miller in third. Completing the top five were KI Davis and James Dean returning to form with a top five effort.

Action moved south for the second night of action as the MSCCS returned to South Mississippi Speedway for the second time on the season with Mike Boland of Cuba, Alabama making his way into Victory Lane for the first time on the young 2004 season. Boland set fast time during Brown Engineering Pole Qualifying and went on to lead all 50 laps of the $2,500 to win main event. Boland stablemate Rodney Wing of Meridian was second with the “Wild Child” James Dean taking third place. Rounding out the top five were Scott Slay and David Breazeale.

Chris Wall was the Boland Performance top rookie finisher each night with a 6th place finish at South Mississippi and a 10th place finish in Hattiesburg.

The next stop on the MSCCS tour will be on Saturday night May 1st at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi featuring the 50-lap $3,000 and $300 to start 1st Annual Richard Underwood Memorial main event. Action will consist of Brown Engineering Pole Qualifying locking in the top eight qualifiers with positions 9 through 20 set by Cliburn Tank Lines B-Main events plus two provisionals to complete the 22-car starting field.
