Bring the Dash back!

Bring back the dashes has my vote also.Highland is also using passing points this year.

They did add the dash $$$ and more to the Modified purse! Passing points have been here a long time @ I-55 and they are there for good! The dashes are gone at least for this year so get used to it! God forbid anyone try something different!

Passing points are useless they are for the allied golden boys that if they have a fast car and they draw a bad pill God forbid then their asses are covered highland and other tracks get by just fine without the gay passing points!

for once i agree with TWEAKED and passing points are stupid. i want a reason why they arent used to make an OFFICIAL feature result but used for HEATS only. STUPID WAY TO RACE IN MY OPINION

Why only to the modified purse???

Im ok with the passing points, they reward a driver for working their a** off to get to the front. However, if they EARN the pole position for the feature, then they gotta worry if they will be penalized with the dice.

If there are no plans to bring the dashes back at least give the drivers some more laps in the feature! Just like Dave mentioned...a sportsman driver is getting a slim 23 laps a night.

You can't put a price on seat time, its the best way to improve yourself.

Old school ROCKS! Winner of the dash throws the dice for # inverted. UNLIKE Farmer City, don't matter where you run in the heat, you can win it and if your last in qualifing, your in the LCQ automatically. It's crap! Whole point of qualifing is see where/what heat your in. NOT to run the heat to practice/hot lap. The simple concept of hot laps, qualify, heat, dash, main... Not sure why some tracks run how they do but that's there perogitive I guess :D

I have a question about tommoro night at I55 will the sprint cars have a dash and if they do will the modified's be allowed to have a dash??

what a guy starting 24 a finishes the race but the guy that takes the checkers don't this ain't nascrap

The one thing I know is the creme more times than not rises to the top. I'd rather see that happen in the 15-25 lap feature than in a 6-9 lap dash. There are times when the "creme" starts towards the back of the dash or not on the front row and after the dash they have the front row for the feature. Then in the feature it's just a forgone conclusion who will win. The way it is without the dash some of the lessers who have a good heat race may get a shot of starting up front in the features and not lose that chance it in the dash. Some say the dash races were some of the best races??? Well, now you get to see that racing in the feature when it matters most instead of during a dash race.

I also think passing points are great for a place like I55. too say they use them for Allied golden boys is stupid.

Pitdrifter, every single word you said is right on target. Makes for better features when the "cream" has to pass some cars. As for Allied inventing the passing points system, it was used all across the country long before I-55 started useing them.

thats the point im trying to make no matter when you use paaing points its silly. so a guy starts second in a heat race, has a good car, finishes second, but has a lot of fast cars in his race start in the back that pass alot of cars but still finish behind this guy, but for the feature they get to start ahead of him because they have more points for passing more cars. so now you penalize for having a good pill and a good car to start stay up front. my point is why is it OK to do this silly system in heat races but not for features? same concept, but i think its more impressive to work your way through a feature than a heat race?

They did away with the dash because they added the pro 4s, If you look at the points for pro 4s we see a total of 13 cars!! You screw up the whole show for 13 cars? Last week we had a heat race with 4 (count them) FOUR pro 4s in a heat race.... what a joke!!! I would rather see the DASH back then 4 cars in a heat!!!!!!

Real simple, xx # of points for position you finish in + 1 1/2points for every car you pass.

Obviously you didn't get the point of my post.

I've seen on car pass 6 in the heat, and win, and start 14th.. Yet other guys who didn't pass anyone started on the front row.

I say take the human error(or "help") out and let the racers decide how things go.

There has never been a car pass 6 other cars and win that race, then start 14th in the feature. That's impossible unless there were a bunch of cars (example sportsman nationals, like 100 cars) and 13 other cars passed more than 6 cars and finished in the front of their heat. If they did do that, they deserved to start ahead of the person you are speaking of.

You are all wasting your time talking about it, they aren't going to change anything.

It goes both ways. What if you are the guy who starts in the back of a 8-9 car heat simply by luck of a pill draw, and two good guys start on the front row. They have a cake walk to the 1-2 finish and you drove your rear end off making it to 3rd. It's hard to get to the front in a short 8 lap heat race from an 8th or 9th starting spot. That's why I like passing points. It gives racers more of a chance to over come bad luck at the pill draw shack. Like i said it works both ways. Either way you do it, sometimes it works in your favor but sometimes the other guys.

Maybe they should go back to the old Allied days of inverting the feature lineup by your point average.

yea well thats racing, get the spot you earn, not some point system for finishing order.

Well I for one looked forward to the dashes almost as much as the features. Put 6 of the best out there for 6 laps with reduced risk of cautions. Kinda like last weeks mod feature at Pevely, how many of us wished that thing ran with no caution maybe could have been interesting. Either way dash or not watching a one lane freight train isn't fun. (not an attempt to derail thread onto track conditions)
