Busy 4th of July Weekend for Sprint Car Racers

The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region sprint cars head to three central Missouri speedways over the Fourth of July weekend for four consecutive nights of winged sprint car racing July 3-6. This special weekend is being billed as the "Red, White, and Blue Series presented by Tiger Towing of Columbia MO". Over $42,000 is being offered in the form of race pay off, bonus feature money, and point fund. Any driver who can sweep the four nights by winning the A-Main each evening will collect $10,000 in earnings.
Double X Speedway in California MO will host the first race of the weekend on Thursday, July 3 and the last race of the series on Sunday, July 6th. The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region has made one stop at Double X already in 2014. Jason Johnson of Eunice LA was victorious in that first visit to the 1/4 mile oval.
Winged sprint car racing will return to Callaway Raceway in Fulton MO on Friday, July 4th. After over a decade absence, the 360 cubic inch sprint cars will once again sling dirt on the 1/4 mile track. The high speed semi-banked track will provide side-by-side racing for the powerful sprint cars. The night will also include fireworks.
The third stop of the weekend will be on the high banked 3/8 mile track at Moberly MO. Randloph County Raceway will host the winged sprint cars for the first time in 2014. Besides fireworks, fans will also get to see non-winged sprint car racing. The Impact Signs WAR Sprints will be in action on Saturday night, July 5th.
Jay Russell of Elwood, KS currently sets atop the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region point standings by a mere five points over Savannah MO's, Randy Hibbs. A full field of sprint cars is expected to compete all four nights. Missouri drivers are expected to be joined by drivers from neighboring states.
The 2014 season marks the twenty-third year of sanctioning sprint car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of sprint car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation.
