FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – May 15, 2013 - Another driver has announced his intentions on competing for the G&G Dozer late model rookie year honors as Chance Bishop of Bartlesville, Oklahoma will be competing full-time on the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products late model tour during the upcoming 2013 race season. This announcement comes on the heels of fellow Oklahoma driver Darin Busch announcing his plans on competing for rookie honors as well.
Bishop and fellow G&G Dozier rookie of the year contender Busch of Enid, Oklahoma will join the rest of the tour regulars at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool, Nebraska when the season opens on Saturday night, May 25th over the Memorial Day weekend.
The 21 year old Bishop is a third generation driver who started racing in factory stocks and B-mods at the age of sixteen. After achieving numerous feature victories in both divisions, he then tried his hand at non-wing micros in the Tulsa area, making the prestigious Tulsa Shootout in his first attempt.
After graduating from High School, Chance then headed to Missouri to be mentored by modified/late model ace Jesse Stovall from Galena, Missouri and spent a couple of years driving modifieds. “Without Jesse’s knowledge on the setup of a modified and coaching, he probably wouldn’t be the driver he is today,” according to his Father, Fred Bishop. “Many thanks to Jesse for the opportunity he gave Chance.”
The summer of 2012 saw Chance make the move to the full body division of the super late models, where he competed weekly at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kansas. After finishing in the top five in five straight races, his sixth race in a late model netted him the feature victory in the second annual topless late model event at the track last year.
As any young driver knows, the only way to get faster and sharpen your racing skills is to get out on the road, compete against different drivers, different race tracks and different racing surfaces. Stepping away from his normal racing pattern and hitting the road with the NCRA late model division will give him the opportunity to do just that as twelve races at eight different tracks in four different states are scheduled.
Chance will utilize Victory Circle by Moyer chassis powered by Hatfield Racing Engines with sponsorship coming from the following: Grandma and Grandpa, Michael Motors, JSR Suspension, Bishop Oil and Gas, Wehrs Machine, B2RLLS, DDS Express LLC, D&G Contracting, Supermoon Graphics, Tommy’s Transmission and Hoffman/Dirtworks Racecars. His parents; Fred and Danette Bishop, own the car with his main crew chief his brother, Bryce.
His goals are to be consistent, competitive, improve and to finish each race and as quick as he learned other divisions he has competed, he should adjust and achieve those goals just fine.
Since 1971 the NCRA has sanctioned dirt track races across the Great Plains with the series currently sanctioning five other divisions. They include modifieds, southern sport modifieds, 360-ci sprint cars, 305-ci sprint cars, new mod-lite and late models.
