Chris Smith & Erica Dieu's Mexican Wedding Adventure

For all of you who don't know, Chris Smith and Erica Lynn Dieu are in Riviera Maya, Mexico, with family and friends for their wedding on Sunday, Nov. 16th. My son, young James, being one of Chris' best friends ;), is one of the groomsmen, along with Marty Smith, Jr. and "Melon" Scotty Chapman. The whole gang left Wednesday morning wearing green frog t-shirts for the "trip of a lifetime" to this beautiful resort on the beach. [NOTE: Did you catch that they wore GREEN t-shirts?]

As a favor to Marty Smith Sr., so he can read this and know what the trip was like, I'm going to post each day with their "adventures in Mexico". He promised me he wouldn't sue me for slander when he returned. I don't think he'll remember anyway.

I told Jimmy to call and let me know when they got there, so when I got home yesterday there was a message from James on the machine. He'd been drinking. He said it was probably going to be the only time he'd call home because it was costing him 99 cents a minute to talk so he wasn't going to call again. HA! He left instructions for me to call Ray Walsh for him and to also let Tom Seppe know he was there because both of them had called Jimmy. Ray was a little upset that Jimmy didn't think he was worth 99 cents a minute to talk to him. Oh well, he'll get over it. He did get to talk to me, though, and that was well worth it, Ray said. [NOTE: Ray lies.]

Jimmy said something about the local Mexicans didn't take too kindly about their wanting to play volleyball with them. He said the Mexicans would get over it (?) I warned him about behaving in Mexico!

Tonight, the phone rang and it was "Melon" first, then Marty Sr., and finally James. I could hear the gaiety in the background, everyone talking at once. Marty was feeling "no pain" and had a lot to say! I don't think Marty has ever talked to me that much in the 10 years that I've known the man! He was looped! He said he was going to talk to me for as long as he wanted and for as long as I would talk back to him at $1.00 a minute! Well, OK, then!

First he told me "James' bootie is burned." Red-haired, fair skinned James didn't pack his sunscreen in his suitcase (like his mother told him to do) but had it in his carry-on, so they threw it away. So he got a sunburn the first day. So typical! He bought some more down there. But Marty says James is fine, don't worry about him. HA!

Evidently they had about 4 hours of down-time yesterday when they got there, waiting for their rooms to be ready. I believe this must have been when they played volleyball. Lots of drinking last night, and throwing up (James and Tiffany, esp.). [NOTE: I warned him about that, too, but does he ever listen to me?] Jimmy has a rash on his knees now from the very coarse sand there and playing volleyball on the beach, and also probably due to the fact that he can't manage to stand up for too long in his inebriated condition.

Today (Thursday), was a much better day, Marty Sr. told me. He said Jimmy went snorkling with Lou & Patti Dieu (Erica's parents) and had a great time. They're all going snorkling tomorrow. Tonight they're dining at "Senor Frog's" for dinner and drinks. That's what he needs, more drinks!

Marty Sr. had a back rub and massage from "...a gorgeous Mexican brunette" woman. I think Patty Smith better watch that husband of hers! ;) Sounds like Marty Sr. is having more fun than young James! He's been at the "swim-up bar" since noon, and they called me at 6:00 p.m. [NOTE: They have a swim-up bar at this place and swim-up rooms. That way, they don't ever have to try to walk anywhere and fall down, but I guess they could drown?] Marty was quite entranced by Estella, the "hot barmaid at the swim-up bar". "Melon" said, in the background, that Marty Sr. was "out of control", and Marty Sr. said that this is "an experience for young James". He said "Oklahoma aint' $hit!" to quote him.

I hope they all make it through the night, because it sounded pretty wild. I reminded Jimmy to behave himself again, and put on that sunscreen or he'll look like a lobster in the wedding pictures.

Marty promised to call again Friday afternoon so I could add some more information to this thread. Can't wait to hear of their continuing "adventures in Mexico"....

Actually I think the real reason they called is so that I'll ask Jimmy's sister, Cathy, to tape "Smallville" for him tonight. Geez! :D

OMG!!:p:p It sounds like they are having a lot of fun. I was wondering if Jimmy would call so you could keep us posted. I can't wait to see the pictures I hope he remembers to take some in all the fun and being in an inebriated condition!:D:p:p;)

tell the boy i have a copy of smallville and supernatural he can have upon his SAFE return...Cloie is hot!!!!!!!!!he will know what i nean,,lenny g.

Thanks, Lenny, but I think his sister taped it for him...they have conversations during and after the show, along with that other Smallville addict, Rusty Griffaw.

No word from Mexico today???? That could mean several things....

1. they realized how much that phone call cost them yesterday
2. they're having such a good time that they forgot all about me
3. Erica has so many things booked to do that they had no time to call :)
4. the Mexican jailers won't allow them an international phone call
5. Jimmy did not list me in his phone numb3rs as his "ICE MOM" (In Case of Emergency MOM...everyone should do this, and I told him to do this, so he probably didn't) :(
6. the US Embassy hasn't been contacted yet because they're all still so drunk in jail
7. Jimmy wandered off from the group and is still lost
8. Ray Walsh and Rusty Griffaw haven't called me yet with news on Jimmy, so this is really good news

Marty Sr. told me yesterday that they were all going snorkling today. Maybe they ventured out to see some sights too. But the bottom line is the phone calls cost too much.

Yes, Jimmy D., you're right, but the women are along, so I don't know just how drunken it will get. Probably not as bad as the usual, huh?

Still no word from Mexico. Guess they don't allow phone calls from jail? It's that or they all drowned in the swim-up bar. ;) They can actually get in the water just outside their room's door and float to the large pool and the bar without ever having to walk anywhere! Ought to look like prunes by now.

Still no word from Mexico. Do you think they found out how much that phone call cost them?

Sunday is the wedding. Hope Jimmy's sunburned face doesn't clash with the pale green wedding party shirt he's wearing. :p

things are going fine down here. i drank a little too much last night, but i will survive. i have gone to senor frogs in playa de carmen, snorkled, gone kayaking twice, and done a lot of swimming. the sand at the volleyball court is real rough and my knees got chewed up pretty good from just one game, so that ****s. the wedding is today so that should be exciting.

Jimmy answered!

OMG He's alive! Jimmy is OK.

He can get to the Internet and post himself. Wow! Sounds like he's having fun! Can't imagine how he managed to drink too much? Jimmy? OMG

Hope he either calls of posts about the wedding today. :D

Coingratulations to Chris and Erica Smith on your wedding today! Best Wishes for a long and happy life together! Love, Debbie :D

I got an email from Jimmy after I saw this on stlracing....

Hi. Things are going fine so far. We went to Senor Frog's in Playa del Carmen Thursday night, that was ok. Friday a bunch of them went snorkeling, riding speed boats and 4 wheelers, Scottie and I didn't go cause that was $139. I have had a good time so far. We are supposed to be going to Xel Ha Tuesday. It's a place for cliff jumping, rope climbing, swimming, snorkeling; swimming with the dolphins is an extra $100 so I don't think I'm doing that. What else is going on? I went snorkeling here at the hotel with Lou and Patti, and have gone kayaking twice. Anyways, talk to you later....
Jimmy

Ok, so he's doing fine, but the cliff jumping part is worrying me now.

olah. things are still going fine. the wedding was nice, didnt take as long as i thought. i didnt feel too good after saturday night, i had to go back to the room early and sleep all evening. chris said he saw me do at least 4 shots or tequila, 2 shots or jack, a shot of jim beam, and something else. plus i have been trying all these different drinks they have on the menu. i think if i have a good day today and tomorrow i will top the 100 margarita mark for the week. marty jr thinks i am at 75 right now. i drank dos equis (the beer they have here) a lot the first night but that didnt go well either. not sure what i will be doing today or tomorrow. a group of us are talking about going to playa de carmen and cozumel today, but that will probably end up costing close to $100 after eatting, the ferry, bus, etc. i think i might just hang out around here and kayak again and play chess with scottie, we played a game the other day and it was pretty fun. i have noticed this all inclusive resort is fun, but on the bus ride here from the airport they tried pushing all this other stuff on us that cost a lot more. i also noticed small food portions, i have been ordering 2 meals almost every time. lol
Jimmy

Sounds like Jimmy is having so much fun. Ray Walsh and Tim, and Tom did do some drinking but Ray did the Most we had to go and get a throw away cooler and buy alot of Beer and got all the ice from the bar at the Hotel, and they thought we were crazy. Ray got lots of sun just like the rest of us. he even went swimming in the Ocean:eek::D. and we jet skiing too. So just because the girls were around they guys did get to do all the drinking they wanted, because us girls did the same..,, :D:)

a bunch of us went to cozumel today, that was ok. the carribbean sea was extremely rough so that wasnt cool. we sat on the 2nd deck of the boat and had to be tilting up to about a 30 degree angle. the waves hit the second deck windows a few time. we ate at the hard rock in cozumel, which is the smallest hard rock in the world according to the sign. not much drinking for me today, maybe 4 beers. i did find a budweiser in playa del carmen tonight though

Jimmy is home!

Well, he got home this afternoon, safe and sound, but still the same ol' Jimmy. Not much time to talk and learn about the trip, though. He's packing up his things, loading furniture in the trailer, and moving out tomorrow! Yes, my baby boy is moving out on his own.

Soon I will be missed and appreciated, very soon. I can't wait. :D

Debbie it will be ok. Heard he is moving to Speed City!! But with those cookies you bake you know he will be back to see ya often. Now the question is do you get your garage back???
