Chub Frank the 2002 Renegade DirtCar Champion made the 14 hour trip to Dixie Speedway on Friday for the 13th Annual Hardee's Shootout for the United Dirt Track Racing Association Pro DirtCar Series at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock Ga. Just outside of Atlanta, GA. For more information on the UDTRA see www.udtra.com.

Chub qualified the Corry Rubber, Corry Laser, Nystrom's Auto Sales, Draime Racing Engines, Rocket Chassis, Pierotti Motorsports, Farr MotorSports, Chevrolet Monte Carlo in 43rd out of 62 of the best drivers in the country entered for the shootout. That put Chub in the first heat race starting 8th and finished 2nd that transferred Chub into the 13th Annual Hardee's Shootout starting in 7th position. Chub had crew chief Boom Briggs make a few changes for the feature and lined up the 1* for the main event. With weather radar-showing showers moving into the area the show was hurried along and driver introductions were skipped, The starting field took the green and Dale Mc Dowell took the lead but Skip Arp drove by him coming off of 4 with Chub running in 8th then on lap 13 a yellow flag flew again and on the restart Chub drove to the top of the race track and drove from 5th to pass Arp for the lead on lap 15 and started to drive off. The two ran up on lapped traffic on the! 28th lap then on lap 45 Arp made a move on Chub and took the lead back coming off of turn 2 but Chub drove back by him on the next lap and had control of the race, on lap 74 light sprinkles of rain began to fall then on lap 80 it really began to rain and this forced the UDTRA officials to throw the checkered flag and claim Chub the winner. Chub brought the Corry Rubber, Corry Laser, Nystrom's Auto Sales, Draime Racing Engines, Rocket Chassis, Pierotti Motorsports, Farr MotorSports, Chevrolet Monte Carlo in for the biggest win of
his career Saturday night with a $55,000 victory and the 13th Annual Hardee's Shootout title. Chub was asked in victory lane if he was doing a rain dance in the car, "I started doing a rain dance at lap 74," Frank said. "This is the biggest win of my career, and this will really help our team. We'll get to eat steak this week. Those double-file restarts really helped us early in the race, especially when we were on the outside." Chub also thanked everyone for all their help & support and especially Mike Swims for talking him into making the trip to Dixie Speedway. The top 10 were 1. Chub Frank, 2nd Skip Arp, 3rd Dale McDowell, 4th Brian Birkhofer, 5th Wendell Wallace, 6th Shannon Babb, 7th Randle Chupp, 8th Steve Francis, 9th Jimmy Mars, and 10th Steve Shaver.
