OK race fans, the City of Grain Valley just sent out an e mail about shutting down the track that will be held at City Hall Wednesday July 31st at 6pm. Pretty nice getting a 1 day notice. There are people on this committee that have already signed a petition to close the track so where do you think this meeting is headed. The lady that is pushing the petitions got up at the city council meeting last week and said race fans were threatening people if they signed the petition. Here is a paragraph from a letter she sent the Mayor. Quote "Lastly, there have been concerns regarding personal information, such as social security numbers and credit card information, of people who have complained about the noise levels being illegally given out by certain employees" . If you can attend this meeting, if not send the mayor an e mail about how much money you spend in Grain Valley and what you buy. There are numerous businesses that are standing up for us in this matter so make sure you support them. You can e mail the mayor at mayor@cityofgrainvalley.org If you send an e mail be civil and state the facts of what you spend. If you want to be like the lady pushing the petition don't do anything, don't be a jerk.

We do already require mufflers on the cars and they race about 60 nights a year I think. Don't get me wrong
personally I do not want to shut the track down and have never stated that I wanted the track shut down. Unfortunately the track is currently operating in violation of their permit they were issued when they first opened. It is my hope that we can come to a compromise on a new permit with the track and with homeowners in Grain Valley that will be agreeable to everyone on both sides of the issue. As you can imagine this is a slippery slope and there very well may have to be concessions made by both sides, but I'm confident that we can get something worked out.

Thanks for taking the time to email.

Mayor
City of Grain Valley just got this email

I emailed the mayor and he took time to reply. The track is apparently operating in violation of some type of permit. The track was notified of the meeting on July 12. The mayor wants the track to remain open but expects both sides will have to make some concessions.

The mayor returned my email too and did state the same thing. I hope they get something resolved tonight at the meeting.

It looks like they have a 2nd wind, copied & paste from their Facebook

Citizens & Racers Rally to Save Track from Outdated Ordinance but the War is Not Over!

Grain Valley, MO | July 31, 2013 - Grain Valley Board votes to have the sound permit modified. The general consensus was the sound regulation needs to be adjusted for a race track. The support from the citizens and board was really good for the track but there will be more fighting and red tape to overcome.
