Newport, TN (11/19/08) -- Shane Clanton and Ronnie Dobbins' Super Late Model racing team are expected to defend his 2008 JOE LEE JOHNSON / GOBBLER crown this weekend at the Cleveland (TN) Speedway and win Saturday nights "A" main event which closes out the 2009 O'Reilly Southern All-Star series. Claiming the 20th edition of the great November event the # 25 "SAE Parts Inc, RSD Enterprises, Stevens Plumbing" sponsored Rocket / Custom Race Engines driver racked up $11,000 winning both races last November. The GEORGIA GIANT is expected to return Saturday again looking to cap off his season with a trip to CAR SMART Auto Sales Victory Lane.
Friday the JLJ / GOBBLER weekend kicks off early with the annual GOBBLER GOLF CLASSIC as drivers/teams/owners/fans and industry insiders tee-it-off at nearby Chatata Golf Course for 18 holes of golf. Friday afternoon racers and teams will arrive early prepping for Local Divisions Qualifying and Heat Races, along with Super Late Model (SLM) open practice. Limited Late Model/Crate drivers/teams will battle Friday for a starting spot in Saturday's $2,500 to-WIN big money event. The A&B-Hobby, Pony and FWD also battle for big money prizes with their $1,000 to-WIN (if pre-registered) two-nighter program. Pits Open Friday at 3PM with Drivers Meeting set for 5:30PM.
