One of the South's most prestigious events is jsut around the corner once again.
Friday and Saturday night, April 2nd and 3rd, Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS will host the 12th Annual running of the James King Memorial. The 2004 edition, paying $12,000 to the Super Late Model winner, is presented by Rinehart Trucking, Jay Dickens Racing Engines, and Larry Clark Chevrolet. As always at the James King Memorial, local and area hotshoes will be geared up to protect thier home turf from a selection of the hottest drivers in the nation who are expected to make the trek to Johnny Stokes' high-banked speedplant. Past champions include Wendall Wallace, Bill Frye, James Cline, Donnie Barnhart, Johnny Virden, Billy Moyer, Johnny Stokes, Mike Head, Robbie Starnes, Don O’Neal, and 2-time and defending champion Freddy Smith. "The Southern Gentleman" became the first repeat winner in James King Memorial history in 2003 - will another driver join "Fast Freddy" as a two-time champ, will Smith go for three, or will someone else step up and add thier name to the list of past winners?
Pepsi Pole Qualifying and Qualifying Heat races will be run on Friday night to determine Saturday night lineups. Qualifying will be done in Columbus' popular "group" format. Saturday night will feature B-Main last chance action and the 64-lap James King Memorial feature race paying $12,000 to the winner. All local divisions will be in action with full shows on both nights.
Saturday night, March 27th, Columbus Speedway will feature a full weekly racing program for the James King Memorial Prep Race. Full weekly show with all divisions and weekly payout is on tap - a great time for drivers to get in those precious practice laps and be prepared for the big show in two weeks!
Columbus Speedway welcomes all drivers and fans to participate in one of the most spectacular events of the year. The tradition keeps growing each year - the James King Memorial is a true "event" that should not be missed. Join us at "The Baddest Bullring in the South"!
