Wahoo, the window for weddings in the local racing community is from November through February. What are you thinking with a September 8th date?   ;) :D

In 2002 we planned my daughter's wedding for October 12th, thinking it would be OK :) and Jimmy would be finished racing....NOT! It was the Eldora weekend! These days, the racing season just seems to go on and on into November, and then starts up late in February. Can't never get enough, I guess? :D

You choose whichever date you want.....September weddings are beautiful!

I know...it's going to be at the track?

Debbie, Wahoo didn't pick the date, I did. Yes, I know it is during race season but a) I didn't want to wait that long till after race season is over, b) I didn't want in the cold and c) I just really liked that date. I know I am a bad future wife making him give up part of racing season but he agreed to it. We did talk about possibly doing it at the track since we both love racing but not sure yet.

Heather,

You go for whatever date you want! It's your big day!

The last wedding I saw at the Belleville track was Bill & Bonnie Freimuth's wedding on July 7th, 2000. The bridesmaids and bride rode onto to the track in convertibles, the ceremony was at the finish line on the front straightaway, then the married couple kissed and TTG waved the checkered flags behind them. TTG was resplendent in a tuxedo and shorts. Very elegant!

Why do I remember all of this? Because I was in the pits right behind the bride & groom with my German exchange students that summer. Not only did they get to see dirt track racing that summer, but a wedding on the track, and I scrapbooked it in the Bomber book.

Heather, you're getting a really great guy in Wahoo! What a sweetie to let you have your choice for the wedding day!! I can say for sure right now that you two will have a wonderful life together! :D :D :D
