I've had three GM crate engines come in here that their owners thought were unmolested and it turned out that they had been modifed have you independently verified your engine's legality and if so how? Tell us more....

I wouldn't buy a used crate motor for this exact reason. Not to mention they are dirt cheap new and last forever.

The one in the 70 car is in fact from UMP/GM. It's legal. As is everything else on the car.

So is it from UMP or GM?

One guy wins a little too much for others liking..... there is gonna be whiners. Just how it works. See the whiners always think someone is cheating. They never consider the other guy might just be better than them. Lmao Not all drivers are created equal!

Some of the ump motors were not new crate motors. They were motors that were taken apart from "certified builders" and redone. That is what i was told when i attended a seminar when this all started. I dont know how many were out there and i dont know if it was 100 percent true and im not saying anyones engine is illegal or not. What im saying is if its a ump engine it might be a rebuild and not new engine. They were supposed to be temporary engines till the other engine is tore apart and examined. Maybe dave mcclain can clarify that more or even say what i was told is wrong. If im wrong im wrong but that is what we were told in the beginning.

It's actually GMs motor, they loaned a bunch to UMP to test.

So there is no guarantee that your engine was not taken apart and rebuilt with good stuff so that the crate engines would make a good impression...

You do realize that there are guys who can change the cam in one of those engines without having to remove the intake or oil pan right? How did they check the cam in your engine when they did the tech inspection?

The crate engines are a nice idea but they and you have zero ability to check the engine for legality it is totally ridiculous.
