T.J. Buffenbarger, CRYSTAL, Mich. (May 2, 2009) – Dustin Daggett finished off a week to remember by winning the season opening Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP feature event at Crystal Motor Speedway.

Daggett welcomed his brand new baby girl into the world earlier in the week and promptly went out and completed a clean sweep of the heat race, fast car dash and main event in the Mott Motorsports Gaerte powered Maxim chassis.

“Pretty good, it’s been a long week. I haven’t had much sleep since Tuesday morning,” said Daggett. “I had the car ready on Sunday because it was going to a busy week.”

The front row was an all Daggett affair with Dustin on the pole and his father Mike on the outside. Dustin took the lead on lap one and opened up a three car advantage while Mike and someone else did something before a caution appeared.

Then during the restart Ryan Davis spun in turn four and was t-boned by Jim Gotgeluck, which turned over Davis with Goetgeluck’s car on top of Davis’ machine. Both drivers were uninjured.

Dustin Daggett then held on through several caution flags, stretched out his lead with every restart. Steve Irwin eventually wrestled away second place from Mike Daggett, but could not make up ground on Dustin Daggett.

On the last turn of the last lap Dain Naida took away third from Mike Daggett off the fourth corner. Gregg Dalman rounded out the top five.

Teunessen, Dustin Daggett, and Mike Daggett won the heat race events. Dustin Daggett won the dash.
