dashes

I like the dashes but at the same time i dont disagree with the choice. Yeah it will be less races from the fans stand point. But from the drivers stand point it will make for a less rushed now with less wear and tear. But if i were only a fan i wouldnt be too disappointed just yet. Wait and see what it brings. You may feel cheated by less races but it may make for much more exciting features to make up for the lost dashes. You first 6 starting spots in the feature will still be your heat winners and 2nd place finishers. But this could be interesting. I am not gunna knock it till we give it a chance. I think it will personally make for much better features. If you are the fastest car of the night you may draw a 6 and have to work for it to get back to the front in the feature instead of winning the dash and giving them the front row in the feature just to walk away with the win. Lets make us work for the win. It will show just who the best one of the night really is. Yeah the fastest car could still draw the 1 or 2 pill but there is the chance to start further back. Once again i say dont bash this until we give it a shot first. It may make for some much better racing or it may not. Well will all find out soon enough. Good luck to all this year!!

Has a decision been made as to exactly how they are gonna do it at Belleville? If so I haven't heard. I know I55 uses passing points. Will the highest passing point guy after the heats get the pole of the feature or will they invert a certain number?

In my opinion, promoters ruined the dashes......when they stopped running them for points, money and starting spots, the no longer had meaning, so from a drivers stand point, heck yeah, get rid of them. (Pevely still did the dashed correctly IMO). But if the promoters would run the dashes the way god intended them to be run, ie, points, money, and feature starting spot, KEEP em........its one last chance to better your feature spot, make a little cash, make a final adjustment, see how you stack up with the best, etc......and they only take 15 min for ALL of them.......I think it's promoters faults......but what do I know, I'm not a promoter.....:D Who cares if you get home at 11:45 or midnight? You got to see three or four more GOOD races.

Belleville did run dashes for points, money and starting spots. I don't know about Pevely tho.

amen!! when they ran for something more, they were awesome to watch. i can remember mt vernon a looooong time ago doing a 4 car dash for 4 laps. now that was fun..but the guys were gunning for more than a spot.

This is how the top 6 will be lined up for the feature event! TTG is gonna roll a big die after the heats are over with the normal 1 -6 on it. One roll will control all classes! If he rolls a 3 the line up will be as follows!

3 - 4
5 - 6
1 - 2
This for Belle-clair and I-55!

Dash laps

I can understand the logic behind saving expenses for the racers and saving time to meet curfew, but exactly how does eliminating the dash lead to a better feature? I liked 1mower's idea - add the dash laps to the feature.

On some nights it may lead to a better feature because a fast car may have drawn for the back of a heat race and just barely made the the dash. Then he uses the dash to move up to a front row starting spot and goes on to lead every lap of the feature. Without a dash he will have to pass those cars in the feature.

Yea, that die will be weighted. I know this doesn't matter, but the best races I have ever seen are the ones that were inverted. I still remember when walsh started on the rear of the feature and won. That was the best damn race I have EVER seen. Make them work for it and run a racing program more for the fans.

Like that will ever happen again...

Dixon Fan, except for the part about the die being weighted you are dead on. We have to cater to the fans and the fans want to see passing.

I bet TTG will be at Casino Queen every weekend from now till March practicing that die roll. LoL.

I'll 2,3,and 4th that. They waste so much time that many nights I can't take it anymore and leave before the features are even over.

Everyone knows or should know where they are supposed to be and when to be there, so line um up and race. And also have the track ready to go at the stated starting time, no one should have to sit there in the hot sun 30 minutes past start time waiting for the tractors to do what should have been done an hour before.

ok I am the person that started this thing about the dashes and i still say taking away the dashes would be a mistake just one persons opinion if you disagree go to i55 website go to utube videos when you get there look on the right side it says latemodel dash 4/11/09 watch it and after that if you can still say take away the dashes you must not be a true race fan also if i55 has an email address i would like to know what it is:cool:

I have been going to i55 since 1981 just once why don`t the promoters and track owners ask the fans what thay want after all we pay to get in buy beer, hotdogs, hamburgers, sodas, ect. Sometimes the dashs are the best races of the night if the people in charge don`t care about us long time fans maybe some of us will spend our money other places. If most of the fans don`t want dashes i could live with that but I don`t think thats the case I just wish we had a voice.

Are the pro-4's gonna still run last heat and first feature?? With no dashes that is really gonna be a rush just to get gas in the car, if I have a broken part I will for sure be done for the night. It would be nice to run the last feature as well.

Oh and go down and ask the drivers that are paying $25 to get in the pits if they mind losing the dash and I don't think you'll hear too many complaints.

Would it help if they earned points for running the dash? I was unaware the dashes had no points until I read this thread. I think every race should have some points earned.
