DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 27) – A light but steady rain started falling at Davenport Speedway just before 6 p.m. and proved to be just enough to wash out Friday’s scheduled IMCA Modified Shootout.
The $2,000 to win event has been rescheduled for next Friday, June 3. The winner will become a candidate for the 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.
An excellent field of visitors was on hand when the decision was made to postpone.
In addition to the top notch field of local drivers, travelers who made the trip to Davenport included Iowans Ron Barker, Jay Noteboom and Darin Duffy, as well as David Murray Jr. from Oberlin, Kan., and California transplant Kellen Chadwick.
The IMCA Modified Shootout at Jackson County Speedway in Maquoketa is still on for Saturday, May 28. Pit gates at the county fairgrounds open at 4 p.m., hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 6:30 p.m.
The Jackson County Shootout also pays $2,000 to win and is a qualifier for the 2011 Fast Shafts All-Star ballot.
