several bellville officers were eating at dennys when a weapon was spoted,,they were told to leave and that no wepones were allowed by a manager,,if i were dennys higher ups that manager would be washing cop cars in the cold to make up for his dumb idea......also the cheif told his officers not to eat at that dennys any more,,all of us bellclair racers know b-ville cops are letter of the law guys n gals..

Gun control guy obviously! I wonder if the place was being robbed if he would prefer the police show up unarmed?

This is really going to affect the business at this Denny's. Too bad the manager made such a dumb decision.

The Denny's in Waterloo always has local police and sheriff deputies eating there. They give them a big table and then add more seats for all of them that continue to show up. Makes me feel safer to know they frequent the restaurant.

Denny's in Belleville may be looking for a new manager and also might be supplying their own security when the Belleville cops don't respond as quickly as they once did. Can't fix stupid!

Today I heard on KMOX radio that Denny's has apologized and welcomed the police back to the Belleville restaurant. I hope they will go back there with no hard feelings. One stupid person shouldn't be allowed to spoil the whole place.

Their prices are getting higher, food is getting worse and services are always bad at em...and now this? Rather eat at a small mom and pops restaurant then them jack sticks anyway!!!

Dont disagree with any of these posts but lets also not forget that the officers got up and walked out without paying for their meal! That in itself is a crime! Not trying to start a argument here but what makes them thi k they can just walk out with out paying for their meal wether they finished it or not

They were told to leave and not pay. I know of a guy who was there and he was shocked at the manager's reaction. Crime is up everywhere and id be happy for cops to come to my business. Several reports said they left without paying but they were demanded to leave just to clear that part up.

Not sure, but I believe most restaurants give police officers free meals if they eat in their establishment, or drastically discounted prices at best. I would.

just to clear it up (they) was not demanded to leave the restaurant only one officer was asked to leave after she was asked to take her gun to the car and they was never told to leave without paying........they all chose to get up and leave without paying! Now with that being said i do believe they should be allowed to carry their department issued weapons! The articles i have read now states that on Fridays all law enforcement will be giving free meals. Thats fine but it still doesnt take away from the fact they all left with out paying for their meals that at the time was not free! It is a crime to steal and by them walking out with out paying is theft no matter how you look at it! Not saying the manager was not at fault here but the officers was wrong also by not paying for their meals!

I dont know if you were there or not but ive been seeing the eyewitness reports on tv and all backed up what i said. Once the manager seen the female cop had a weapon the manager demanded she disarm or leave. she gave the manger her ID and badge number as well as the others started to do that as well. Once the manager seemed like that wasnt doing any good........they decided to leave as they were not only emberrassed but they were causing a scene and it didnt look good for anyone. Look on youtube.........several reports and even interviews with the cheif saying the same thing. Also.......the bill wasnt paid due to she was demanded to leave and they followed. Mayvbe they were going to just leave and pay it later when things calm down......where you one of the cops?? Hey there are bad cops and good cops but putting these guys on the spot in a public place for such a stupid deal is terrible. Not to mentions the Denny's company policy specifically says that they ALLOW law enforcement agents to their establishment armed at any time they have a weapon. Here is 1 link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtVWOv_447g

Exact same thing my friend said and same thing his other people said as well. Not to mention the manager was on a power trip. That in itself is never a good situtation especially when dealing with someone who might be saving your butt one day. That unpaid bill wont even come anywhere near equal to their service they can do for you when needed. When i ran tow calls we towed police personal cars when needed as they helped us out when we needed them. and trust me....at 3 am in the morning you get involved in situtations that they can save your life. I had to get them to help me 3 times to keep from being stiffed on tows or almost robbed.
