Doe Run Raceway wins over Mother Nature

DOE RUN, MO--(August 29, 2004) Despite Mother Nature's efforts, Doe Run Raceway was able to complete a full race program this past Friday night.

In the 600cc Multi class, it was night 4 of the non-winged point series. After an absence of several weeks, Dustin Barks returned to the Raceway with a vengeance, winning both his heat race and the feature. Tony Roney drove his #8 Fat Boy chassis to a second place finish after spinning early on and being moved to the back of the 18 car field. Joey Boyd finished third from the 11th starting spot, Junior Ferguson fourth and Gavin Galbraith fifth. Casey Barnhouse was runner up to Barks in the first heat, Jimmy Bridgeman third. Jeremy Boyer won the second heat, Roney second and Jake Bess third.

Dave Wofford captured the feature win in the Mini Stock class over second place finisher Shannon Burch. Ron Moser finished third, Carl Bellew fourth and Phil Norris fifth. Moser won the first heat, Joe Ketcherside second and Norris third. Wofford won the second heat, Carl Bellew second and Brian McGee third.

Mike Zaricor was also a two time winner in the Dwarf Car Class, taking the checkers in the first heat and the feature. Sam Layton followed Zaricor across the line in the feature, Jeffrey Asher third, Vince Conway fourth and Glenn Province fifth. Asher was runner up to Zaricor in the first heat with Billy Joe Beard third. John Leahy Jr. carried the checkers in the second heat with Dom Wadlow second and Layton third.

In the stock kart class, Landon Barks followed the example of his older brother Dustin and drove his yellow #8 across the finish line first in both of his events. Jesse Wright was second to Barks in the feature, Braydon Wright third, Brad Paquet fourth and Scott Hutchins fifth. Braydon Wright was second in the heat race, Paquet third.

It was a Wayne Arnold evening in the Super Stock Kart class with the #00 crossing the line first in both events. Megan Bell finished second in the main event, Brad Paquet third. Michael Harp finished in the runner up spot in the heat race, Paquet third.

Racing action resumes Friday, September 3rd with the "Sportsman Spectacular". Also participating will be the Mini Stock, Dwarf, Stock and Super Stock Kart class. The 600cc Multi class will not be racing.
