Alexander, Arkansas (09/06/11) – Drew Armstrong and Armstrong Auto-Sports are making the long tow to Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) this week, September 7th-10th, to take their #01a Armstrong Auto-Sports/Larry Shaw Open Wheel Modified into battle in the 2011 IMCA Super Nationals.

Hundreds of Open Wheel Modified competitors from across the country enter the event each year as they battle in the coveted event. For Drew the action will begin on Wednesday as eight qualifiers will lock into Saturday's main event from the program. On Thursday and Friday complete programs are held once again as competitors try to lock into one of the eight spots from each program that lock into the finale. Saturday will see nine more competitors added to the feature event, which will start thirty-three competitors, three wide.

Drew will also take part in the Fast Shaft All Star Invitational, which will be held on Friday during the annual IMCA Super Nationals. Out of the over 400,000 votes that were received, Armstrong received more votes than any other driver, and he was the youngest driver voted into the event at the age of 16. The 98 candidates on the All-Star ballot included last season’s regional and state champions, and the winners of events that paid $1,000 or more held from June 1, 2010 through May 30, 2011. The team entered a pair of events over the Labor Day weekend with things getting underway on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas). After starting second in his heat race, he would claim the win to earn the third starting spot for the feature. In the main event he would race at the front of the pack for the duration of the event before crossing the finish line in the fifth position behind race winner, Shawn Walsh, Jerry Waugh, Greg Waugh, and Greg Engles Jr. Full results are available at www.BatesvilleMotorSpeedway.net.

On Saturday night the action shifted to Hammer Hill, I-30 Speedway, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Heat race action found Drew advancing from the fifth starting spot to a third place finish to earn the fifth starting spot for the feature. He would get crossed up on the second lap, causing him to spin. After rejoining the field at the tail he would rocket through the field to a great fourth place finish at the checkered flag.
