Fairgrounds Speedway twinbill is next for EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour

CORTEZ, Colo. (Aug. 9) – The most successful drivers over the course of EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour history are no strangers to victory lane at Fairgrounds Speedway.
The 1/3-mile clay oval at Cortez hosts the next two dates in the IMCA Modified series this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 12-13. Both features are qualifying races for the 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.
Five previous series events have been held at Fairgrounds Speedway and two-time EQ WWMT champion Ricky Alvarado owns three of his circuit-best 23 career feature wins there.
2009 champion and current point leader Justen Yeager, and defending king Zane DeVilbiss have each won once at Cortez. Yeager is second on the career wins list with 10 while DeVilbiss is third with nine victories.
Pit gates and the grandstand open at 4 p.m. each day. Hot laps follow the 7 p.m. drivers’ meeting with racing at dusk. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded.
Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 55 and over, $7 for kids and free for youngsters five and under accompany¬ing a paying adult. Pit passes are $25.

DeVilbiss is the only repeat winner through seven series events so far this season. Yeager, Cory Sample, Michael Hale, Travis Metz and Porter Smith have each taken a single checkered flag.
Final events of the fifth annual series are Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16-17 at Atomic Motor Race¬way in Atomic City, Idaho.
