Fan appreciation night held at Doe Run Raceway

DOE RUN, MO--(August 12. 2005) A large crowd of spectators took advantage of fan appreciation night this past Friday night at Doe Run Raceway. In addition to $5 grandstand admission, fans were treated to a life size chicken handing out candy, great racing action and drawings for prizes that included two childrens bicycles generously donated by Marty, Michelle and Chase Boyer.

In the Stock Kart Class, Scottie Gretzmacher went two for two, winning both the heat race and the feature events. When the green flag waved, Jesse Wright jumped out in front, leading lap one but relinquishing the lead to Gretzmacher by the second lap. Wright had to settle for second, Maggie Almon third, Braydon Wright fourth and Andrew Cash fifth. Braydon Wright finished second to Gretzmacher in the heat race, Jesse Wright third.

In the 600cc Multi class, Tyler Robbins made a last lap pass on Neil Shepherd to earn a feature win. Rounding out the top five were Shepherd, Zack Daum, Joey Boyd and Casey Barnhouse. Barnhouse carried the checkers in the first heat, Jacob Patton second and Austin Jones third. Shepherd won the second heat, Daum second and Jake Moseley third.

Shannon Burch returned to victory lane in the Mini Stock class. Burch was followed across the line by Dave Wofford Jr., CJ Wright, Marty Boyer and Butch Hartman. Burch won the first heat, Wofford second and Bill Nickelson third. CJ Wright won the second heat, Hartman second and Brian McGee third.

Mike Zaricor added another feature win to his list for 2005 in the Dwarf car division. Vince Conway finished second to Zaricor in the main event, Matt Dotson third, Billy Craig fourth and Chris Hayes fifth. Zaricor won the first heat, Bill Beard second and Conway third. Chris Hayes won the second heat followed by Dotson and Billy Joe Beard.

Racing will resume Friday August 19th with 600cc Multi, Mini Stock, Dwarf cars and Stock Karts participating. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., practice at 7:30 p.m., racing begins at 8:00 p.m. For more information, visit the track's website at www.doerunraceway.com or phone (573) 756-8889.
