Five years later, we still thank you

Friends,

Five years ago tonight, the lives of every one of our family members changed drastically and dramatically when our father and husband, Dave Walker, fell ill with what we thought would be a stroke. Later in the week we would find out his diagnosis, unfortunately was an incurable brain tumor. Over the ensuing 18 months, Dad fought mightily, with every ounce of his heart and soul, but ultimately succumbed to the cancer. That December was the worst our family has experienced and the following struggle was one no one should witness our be forced to fight.

To know our dad was to love him. His generosity and love of life was unparalleled. He could talk ad nauseum about nearly anything and never met a person he didn't consider a friend. Little did we know how many lives he had touched until he was mired in the fight for his life. Out of nowhere, long-lost friends appeared, offering their hearts and anything they could to help. Many of you may have attended or donated toward a benefit in his honor. Many others showed your support and love. What you gave him, your precious time, kind words and heartfelt prayers meant the world to him. He was embarrassed by the outpouring which was true to his manner, but there was a gleam in his eye every time he read a message or got a phone call. There wasn't a single time when you, as friends, reached out and he didn't completely and utterly enjoy it.

If there is one thing our family holds dear in experiencing dad's final months, it is in the joy we saw in this. Dad was one of the lucky ones in a way. He got to hear exactly how much he was loved. For that blessing, we are eternally grateful.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The family of Dave Walker

There isn't a day go by that we don't think of your dad. He has a very special place in our heart & lives.

You guys have a great Holiday Season as well...

A million times what Linda said............

Your dad was very special............and very much appreciated. He was a great asset to the St. Louis motorsports community (and the Boy Scouts!).

He also raised his family well.

Thanks for sharing him with us.

Happy Holidays to all of the Walkers!

Doesn't seem like 5 years. Seems like I just talked to Dave last week. I enjoyed all the time at Illinois supply and working with him at various racetracks. Sadly missed. Ted Z.
