SPECIAL RACE DURING AZALEA FESTIVAL WEEKEND TO FEATURE PURE STREETS, RAMS MINI STOCKS & HORNETS/WANNABEES!!

Here's the complete details on the Fredericktown Azalea Racefest to be held on Sunday, May 4th at the Fredericktown Raceway, with a rain-date of May 18th. The event is now listed as an official event on the annual Fredericktown Azelea Festival Weekend.

We will be running the Pure Streets, RAMS Mini Stocks, Hornets/Wannabees, the amateur ATVs (and a special appearance of the Dwarf cars).
Gates will open at 3 p.m.
Hot laps at 4:15 p.m.
Racing at 4:45 p.m.

This is all going to be taking place during the Azalea Festival Weekend in Fredericktown. Grandstand admission will be $3 plus a couple of cans of food that will go to the Madison County Food Bank.

NOTE: These figures are based on at least a 16-car field! If we have under this amount we will have to amend these figures.

This will be a RAMS Points Series event and will pay accordingly.
The rain-date for this event is May 18th.

During the day on Sunday, May 4th, here's some of the other stuff going on with the festival leading up to the race.
They will be having a parade starting at 2 p.m. The car show awards presentation (and several of the race cars will be involved) will take place at 4 p.m.
I understand the festival will be centered this year around Jaycee Park.

Rules for Hornets/Wannabees during Racefest

1. Any 4-cylinder car with a maximum wheelbase of 1 04" and a complete stock body, frame and suspension. No bracing anywhere except inside the drivers compartment. Dash, steering and pedals must remain stock for that make and model. All insulation under hood must be removed.

2. Stock carburetor I fuel injection, with stock OEM air intake / filter system for that make and model. No turbo chargers.

3. Stock transmission for that make and model.

4. Battery must remain under the hood in stock, secure location.

5. Stock unaltered rear end for that make and model.

6. Passenger tires, 70 series or taller only. Wheels and tires must be same size on all four corners. 45 lbs. Air pressure minimum at all times, all four comers. No racing wheels.

7. If stock gas tank is ahead of rear axle it may remain in place. If stock gas tank is behind rear axle it must be replaced with a fuel cell or 6.6 gallon maximum boat tank. Fuel cell / boat tanks must be covered secured and located in trunk.

8. ROLL CAGE: A full four point, box type roll cage is mandatory. Roll cage must be securely welded to either 1/8" plates measuring 4'tx8" or to 1/8" angle stock material welded to rocker panel area. Tubing must be a minimum of 1.5" in diameter and .095 wall thickness. Door bars required on drivers' side. No galvanized, black gas or aluminum tubing allowed. Roll cages will be inspected. Roll bars within driver area must be padded. Approved window net on driver side, must be quick release, rectangular type.

9. Drivers doors must be welded or chained shut. Driver side doorplates recommended.

10. Approved aluminum racing seat mandatory. Seat must be secured to cage assembly using four (4) grade eight bolts with lock nuts, no less than three eighths (3/8) inch diameter.

11. Five point, three inch approved safety harness mandatory. Manufacturers date tag must show I /99 or newer. If date tag is not present, belts must be replaced. Belts must be secured to cage assembly using one half(1/2) inch diameter grade eight bolts and lock nuts.

12. Approved helmet, fire suit and gloves required.

13. All glass must be removed. Windshield must be replaced with heavy wire screen. Three 3/8" horizontal bars to be securely welded in front of driver.

14. Third brake light must remain intact and operable. Car horn must work. .

15. Management claim in affect at all times. Claim amount $500.00. Does not include fuel cell or safety equipment.

16. All cars are subject to a minimum specification inspection at any time. It is the responsibility of the driver to prepare their car free of defects and in a safe racing condition.

17. Minimum age 16 and must possess a state driver license.

18. All cars and drivers must register and have number approved before allowed to race. NO EXCEPTIONS.

19. Cars must be painted. Car number must be at least 24” tall and be in a legible contrasting color on doors, and car number at least 6" tall on upper corner of passenger side of windshield. No duplicate numbers. Cars not properly painted will start in the back of each race.
