MARS Super Late Model Racing Series rolls into Tri City on Friday, Aug 10th for the 7th Annual Russ Wallace Memorial
SOMERSET, KENTUCKY – August 5, 2018 – The MARS Super Late Model Racing Series will make its second visit
of the 2018 season to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, IL on Friday August 10 for the 7th Annual Russ Wallace Memorial, paying $5,000 to win.
Driver's list includes Chris Simpson, Brian Shirley, Shannon Babb, Jason Feger, Tanner English, Tim Manville, Michael Kloos, Gordy Gundaker,
Billy Laycock , Darlyn Klein.
The Russ Wallace Memorial at Tri-City Speedway is the first event of a two-day weekend of action in the Land of Lincoln for the MARS Super Late Model Racing Series,
as the series will visit Fairbury’s American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL on Saturday August 11 for the FALS Frenzy, paying $10,000 to win.
Tri-City Speedway will host an open practice at the track for all divisions in preparation for the Russ Wallace Memorial event.
The open practice will be on Thursday August 9 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. All divisions are welcome.
Along with the MARS Late Models $5,000 to win hitting the high banks will showcase the UMP Modifieds, B-Modifieds,
UMP Crate Late Models $700 to win, and Micro Sprints.Activities at Tri-City Speedway will kick off with the pit gates opening at 5:00 p.m.,
with the general admission area opening at 5:30 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 6:15 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 6:30 p.m.,
with time trials and green flag racing immediately following practice laps.
Ticket prices for the Russ Wallace Memorial event in the General Admission area will be $20 for adults, while a Adult Pit Pass will be $35
a kids pit pass 12 & Under is $15.
The tire rule for this event at Tri-City Speedway is as follows:
Hoosier LM 20/LM40 on the left front, right front, and left rear, with Hoosier LM40 mandatory on the right rear. Grooving and siping is allowed.
Random tire samples will be taken by the series.
The entry fee will be $100 for this event and tow money for any driver not making the main event starting field will be $100.
The MARS Super Late Model Racing Series has competed once previously in the 2018 season at Tri-City Speedway
and Brian Shirley of Chatham, IL would pick up the win on the first Friday of June.
Shirley’s victory would come over Dennis Erb, Jr., Tony Jackson, Jr., Tanner English, and Jason Feger.
