Gerstner & Son Motorsports Statement

Well, that's a little insight as to how procedures are done. Officials called later to ask what compound the tire was? Crazy

Man up and stop pointing fingures!! You made your bed now lay in it you highland rat!! Your a cheater and you got caught,so stop making excuses and say your sorry for doing it..

English mother$%*& do you speak it?
"It is our fault that our tire sample did not conform to the sample."
"We take full responsibility for our tire, the results of the test, and our tire program."
What part of this are you having trouble grasping dirtboy? Seems pretty clear to me!

Hoosier Tires do not come with laundry instructions, I have never seen or been told where the laundry lable is. Let this be a lesson to everyone who uses soap's, degreaser, car washing soap, and any other chemical while cleaning your race car, or tires. If the tire absorbs any of the cleaner, and the tire is checked at a lab, the results will show somthing other than what the tire coumpound was from hoosier. The lab can not tell if it is a performance inhancing chemical, it just does not belong on the tire. It's too bad a great bunch of guys may get a black eye becouse of this.

lmfao highland rats!! Dirtboy sure knows how to get em fired up. Laundry soap is not the reason they got busted. They cheated and got caught. They were doing a little fingure pointing at they way the test and sample was done.

"we do not pay for performance enhancing tire treatments or the chemicals used to make them"
Interesting choice of words, "we do not pay for".

"we offered samples of the products that are used in our tire program which DIRTcar refused"
Is it just me, or does anyone else think the above two excerpts seem to contradict each other?

"More importantly, for you that we have disappointed, both fans and competitors, it is with regret this situation has arisen"
Really????? WTF does that even mean?????? Hell, if I got caught I would regret it too. Can't you just say "were sorry"?

The statement they gave clearly states that they have a tire program, and further states that they even offered DirtCar samples of the products (plural) they use. Soap's, degreaser, car washing soap, and any other chemical while cleaning your race car is not what gave them a black eye. Time to take off the blinders, they were putting crap on their tires.

Hey 01cratefan,, I can read english, but we can tell you cant now!! That was a piss poor statement and they where pointing fingures. They are a bunch of damn liers and cheaters. They are contradicting there own words just like Kingeddy said!!! There highland rats and done said they dont buy there tire prep,so that means they must me getting it somewhere for free.Maybe Nick Giesiking is a silent sponsor(aka crown cuts or bleedblue). If you want to talk futher come on down and we can discuse it more friday night, you know were i set.. 6k are soar losers and cheaters!!! your pal dirtboy..

I've read Gerstner's statement several times trying to make some common sense out of it. It sounds to me like they are dancing all around the issue short of saying the tire was illegal? Of course they take full responsibility for the tire...they were caught red handed. No where in that statement did they say the tire was legal.

The whole thing felt dishonest to me. They didn't dope the tires, but they are responsible for it not being legal? Either come clean or stay silent. They don't owe anyone an explanation, but don't treat people like children either. I think a 6 month penalty is a little harsh too. I think $5000 and zeroing all UMP (including track) points would have been the proper punishment.

John

Dirtboy...your constant negativity would be much better served by spending time taking some night classes rather bashing people.

They only got 2 months and a 2500 dollar fine....his two feature wins during his appeal process almost covered that...I think 6 months and 5000 would not have been too harsh. Maybe people would be more scared to get caught using these products.

"The collection of the sample did not follow DIRT car’s “chain of custody” procedures. First off, it did not happen within 15 to 20 minutes following the completion of the race. After we were told a sample was going to be taken, the official left our pit crew member by himself while he went to get the test sample equipment (if we knew our tire would come back as not legal, we would have had plenty of time to switch it out). Neither the car owner or competitor were present for the initial sniffer test or at the time of collection and neither received a receipt of the sample collection. In addition the official did not write down a serial number or compound as DIRTcar called a few days later to ask us the compound of the tire."

UMP doesn't have a leg to stand on if lawyers get involved.

In addition to the tire sample, we offered samples of the products that are used in our tire program which DIRTcar refused.

You all assume that "products" implies that they actively have a tire program, when "products used in our tire program" could be a multitude of things beyond plain 'ol water.

DIRTcar had the sample tested at Blue Ridge Labratories and provided us with their results. Based on their testing methods, they concluded that our tire sample did not conform to the controlled sample.

I know others have touched on this, and I've helped race teams off and on...but racers have been using "tire cleaner" and brake cleaner to help scuff tires as long as I can remember. And who's to say what a driver runs over in the pits on the way to the track or ON the track itself. I'd assume any type of fluid that comes in contact with the tire would deviate from the "controlled sample."

I'm not condoning cheating. And I'm definitely not condoning the business Mr. Geiseking is in, but based off what I have read in his responses, UMP has a lot to improve on with their tire testing procedures (from the ground up) before they start handing out fines, suspensions, and penalties.

ok if they are going to give out a penalty like this they need to be consistent and give the same penalty to anyone that get's caught no matter WHO they are!!!

I've been entertained by hours of reading on all this tire treatment stuff. But something just hit me reading Racingfan03's statement. The next time a car puts fluids on the track should the push trucks run that in instead of us? Nice hot tire soaking that stuff up... I don't know. Just a question.

was thinking the same thing bill. like someone else said, makes you wonder what you can and cant use to clean the tires and stuff like that. i always sprayed either mud-off or baby oil and water on the whole car including the sidewalls to keep mud and the dirt from sticking, now im rethinking doing that. but im not a front runner but i dont want to be breaking the rules either
