MADISON, Ill. - Gateway International Raceway has released its 2008 schedule with a combination of the great regular events GIR fans love and some new festivities that will quickly become fan favorites.
The season kicks off on March 15 with the Second Annual O'Reilly Icebreaker and wraps up Oct. 18 with the finale of the Saturday Bracket Races. In between those two dates are a full season of racing-oriented fun, including Monster Mopar, Megabucks, the United Black Drag Racers Association's "Black Sunday," and the brand-new Muscle Car Reunion and Nostalgia Drags featuring the legendary "Big Daddy" Don Garlitts.
"We at Gateway think we've put together a schedule that appeals to almost everyone," GIR Vice President and General Manager Lenny Batycki said. "With so many events, it was challenging to not only ensure the sanctioning organizations received the dates they wanted, but to also make sure those dates were at a time most convenient for our fans.
"We have a pretty full calendar for 2008, but there might also be some surprises that show up later, so our fans need to stay tuned to GatewayRaceway.com for any new developments."
