Godfrey Speedway-One Year Later

Those were the three that I was thinking of... Betty mcKenney, lori Roach, and Sharon Rhodes. I Knew that some of the people on here remembers the old times and the memories wont die. Lets keep this going for sometime. If we do Godfrey speedway will never die. Thanks to everyone that knew the answers. Can't keep up with mama drew on all the history of the track but betwen all the people on here we all can remember something

Even the bad things that happened like the two people that got killed at the track but there were more good memories than bad.

I drive by there every day of the week, and after a year it still pisses me off. I still have not spent one cent in Godfrey since and probably never will. To the city "fathers" that thought they were sitting on a golden egg, congrats, it is an eye sore, and an embarrasment to everyone... but hey if you ever wanted to live next to a concrete plant or own a gas station, MOVE RIGHT IN THERE'S PLENTY OF HOUSES FOR SALE!!!:mad::mad::mad:

I went to the new TCS for the first time this yeara couple weeks ago, nice track, good races, and good staff. Would have went to the FED EX 50 but we all know what happened there.:rolleyes:

If the weather holds, I coaxed my dad to go to the races for the first time since Godfrey closed. I was mad when the track closed, he was heart broken because of all of the good memories. I dont think he will ever be a regular at a track again, but atleast he is giving TCS a chance.:D
 
I undersand the concrete plant is now operational. You would think if there are people there, they could fire up the lawn mower.

However, I just wanted to add: Godfrey was a fun time! I spent my 21st birthday there, you were there!!! Wasn't that last year? Maybe not, but hey it was fun anyhow...Too bad. (Both about the track and me getting older...)
 
one might go as far as to say the property is... blighted??? I always thought that the city fined people who dont mow their lawns???
 
well depends on if 1) they have money or 2) if their friends with the low down sneaks of godfrey politic gang 3) if their drinking buddies with barry sieler and sid ingram. BUT if they are none of these then yes they will get a fine for sneezing out of sequence in godfrey
