Grandma Edwards Takes Top Eliminator Honors at Big River Sand Drags

BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (May 7, 2005) Gladys "Grandma" Edwards of Bonne Terre captured not only first place in the Vehicle ET class Saturday night she also won the top eliminator race. Edwards knocked off second place Bryan Moore in the top eliminator race.

In Open 4x4, Steve Barton of Bonne Terre finished in first place with Bill Sutton of Bonne Terre taking second place and then winning the top eliminator race.

In Competition Eliminator, William Sutton of Des Arc was the top eliminator and first place winner while Brad Lunn of Pacific captured second place.

In Off Road Modified, Todd Dee of Leadwood was the top eliminator and first place winner while Corey Dee of Bismarck finished in second place.

In the Stock Buggy class, Jeremy Sutton of Park Hills was the first place winner with Ralph Smith of Mineral Point taking second place and winning the top eliminator race.

In the Super Pro ATV class, Christopher Sauer was the top eliminator and first place winner while Dale Bates Jr. captured second place.

In Pro ATV, Tony Schapp of Barnhardt was the first place winner with Randy Hayes of Pilot Knob finishing in second place and winning the top eliminator.

In ATV-1, Sarah Lunn of Pacific was the top eliminator and first place winner while Cassie Patterson of Leadwood finished second.

In Junior ATV, Whitney Dee of Leadwood was the top eliminator and first place winner while Blake Jimmerson of Viburnum captured second place.

This Saturday night at Big River Sand Drags is "Drag Race Your Mini Van Night" for the American Red Cross. Anyone can bring their mini van of all engine sizes (and either front or rear wheel drive) and participate in a special class of racing featuring the mini vans. Entry fee is $25 win proceeds going to the American Red Cross. For more information contact Jeff Mills at (573) 747-0566.
